Guest guest
There are ups and downs along the way, especially in the beginning. Hang in there and take it slowly.. Hope he feels better. Guest guest
Diagnosis always helps. =D It takes a while to heal. I did see overnight results in pain. The diet helped immediately with my inflammation but over 2 years into the diet, I still have some symptoms, but they are much less than before the diet. If I go into a flare, I can pull myself out of it within a week just by eating easy to digest foods (intro stuff). Did you follow the intro diet? Are you adding one new food in every 3-5 days to see if he reacts to it? Is everything he's eating peeled, deseeded and well cooked? Have you visited pecanbread.com? It's a website maintained by the mother's of autistic children that follow SCD. The stages aren't perfect for everyone but they are a good guidline. My intro diet consisted of chicken broth (no veggies), gelatin made with 1 cup juice and 3 cups water, Tropicana pure premium orange juice diluted 100%. Once I was able to tolerate the veggies in my soup, I started moving on to other things. It was months before I had done enough healing that I could start adding a variety of foods. Peeled, cooked apples and very ripe bananas were some of the first foods I tolerated as well as carrots and zucchini. Eggs and colby jack cheese were staples for me, but eggs make D symptoms worse for some people. I have Crohn's with C so I didn't have those issues. Just take it slow. The last time I flared (a few months ago) was because I ate peanut butter twice in one week. Nut butters and flours are very advanced so be careful when trying those. Remember, he didn't get sick overnight so he won't get better overnight either. That he's already shown improvement means SCD is working but it's not a quick fix. It takes time. The worse each case is, the longer it takes to heal. Be patient and take it slow. Good luck!!!
