Guest guest
My surgeons patient educator, (who had the surgery herself) said that there are only two things that they a sure of that correlate to hair loss. (which does not mean there is some else that causes it. Just that they have no definite correlation for anything else.) 1. Hair loss associated with prior pregnancy and childbirth. 2. Protein consumption. 1. If you had hair loss with prior pregnancy and childbirth, there was a good chance that you would have it after this surgery. Not too much you can do about it. 2. If you have not been getting enough protein, that can cause hair loss and hair damage (brittle, split, etc.) Unfortunately, since it takes three month of not enough protein to result in hair loss, any changes you make wont take effect immediately. My mom found the hot oil treatments for damaged hair helped her hair quality, but it didn't stop the loss. So, drink plenty of protein, take your vitamins, and if you do have hair loss, just remember that you are still better off than me - I can't tell if the hair loss is due to the surgery, or my receding hairline. At least your hair will come back. <grin> Also, I would rather be hairless and skinny, than be morbidly obese with a full head of hair, and have to lean on a shopping cart when I go shopping.
