Guest guest
Antonia, I am praying for you. You have been on my mind since I read your email the other day and tonight I was about to suggest you do the things you just did: get a loan and take flights to the closest CT location using angel flights. This has to work and I can guarantee you that while in a DOC band your son will see improvements. Please keep us posted. Fingers crossed and good luck! Please pray for us. Today I called my pediatrican and got a new rx for a new band. I called Cranial Tech in AZ and made an appointment for 1/15/09. They stated that it will be 3600.00. If I pay in full they will take off 300.00. However they dont have much of a payment plan. They stated I would have to pay it off in 4 short months which would make four payments of 400.00. Not doable. So I tried to apply for a carecredit medical credit card. Denied. So I went to my credit union and applied for a loan, denied by myself but a friend offered to co-sign. We are waiting to hear if they will approve it. PLEASE PRAY THIS GOES THOUGH!!!!! I contacted angel flights and they stated they will have my ped fill out some forms to see if I can get a flight. So right now were waiting for 1) To see if the bank will approve the loan and 2) to see if Angel flights can help us. Secondly. I left messages for Hanger on Thursday, Friday, Yesterday. They never called back. I called today and kept getting placed on hold and finally was told someone will have to call me back. I'm infuriated. I only paid a deductible to them which was not all that much, but I am going to speak with some type of manager tomorrow no matter how many offices I have to call and I am getting a refund. This is the worst thing I have ever dealt with! Its crap that there are so few options in Colorado and they are doing this to me when my options are limited. Now I'm going to have to go to great lengths to do the appointments in AZ but by the grace of God I hope I can do it. All the prayers would help us right now. I'm not too worried about the Angel flight cause the lady assured me I shouldnt have a problem, but I am scared of this loan thing. Because of my crappy family no one would co sign for me and my friend WOW is all I can say. There are not many FRIENDS in this world who will take such a chance. Anyway that is my update for today. Anyone who had to travel out of state will you please email me and I'll give you my number. I would definately like to talk to some others to see about your experience, and any tips you have for me. Thank you all SO MUCH for all the guidance, wisdom and advice you all have provided over the past 4 months. Without I would have not known a thing and would have assumed what the neuro surgeon told me that "no good doctor will do a band" I hope my next update will be that my loan was approved. Guest guest
Hi Antonia:keep at it, it will work out. As far as Angelflight is concerned. You will need a medical clearance for the baby, plus of course you will need to fill out forms to show monetary necessity. When you fly you need to take a carseat along (one that is on the smallish side, small planes are not all that roomy). 1. It will keep the baby safe in the plane2. You will need a seat for ground transportation. We only found out at the very last that there are also " Earth Angels " for ground transportation. Ideally one of the members of this group in the Phoenix area is willing to pick you up at the airport and shuttle you back and forth? Renting a car or getting a cab really can run into money.I am happy you are getting things moving. Guest guest
Just curious, is it the local Hanger office that you are having a hard time getting a hold of or the corporate office? I would definitely try calling the corporate office to let them know what your experience has been. In the past, Orthomerica has always been very responsive when they have been called about issues in the local offices so hopefully Hanger will be just as responsive. At a minimum they should know about the problems you've been having even if they don't offer to fix them (not that you want to go back to them any ways). Good luck with the loan and Angel Flights and keep us posted on how things go at CT. Guest guest
We used Cranial Tech in Phoenix, and they were GREAT for us every step of the way. Some suggestions: I have heard that Southwest Airlines is VERY charitable when it comes to medical emergencies. There is a screening process where they determine the healthcare and financial needs, and I think that they make you fly stand bye, so if a Denver/Phoenix flight that you wanted happens to be full with paying passengers, you are out of luck. But you might want to check it out. With their open seating policy, if there ARE open seats, you can just go towards the back of the plane and have two seats for you both instead of having to lap-ride. If it all comes together for you, I live in Phoenix and can always give you a ride to Cranial Tech’s office. It is only about a 15 minute highway shot from the airport. We have car seats, and for most of the week I am running around to visits for our son Samson anyway (he is still catching up with physical, occupational, and speech therapy once each per week!). I admire your determination, and just ask if you need our help for a ride to/from. GOOD LUCK!
