Hi ,

Hope you are feeling better - thinking of you.

I felt something 'go' in the top of my right foot, but thought I'd pulled a tendon or something. But my physio and dr today say a stress fracture is more likely, and that the pred can contribute to this, even after only a short time. Bugger >.<

My Dr says there's no sign of a stress fracture on the x-ray - but they don't

always show up on x-rays. I'm able to walk OK - did my 20 minute walk to the

local shopping centre this morning OK.

New pred side effect has just kicked in - a really strong bitter taste in my

mouth all the time. Do others get this too?

Cheers,

I'm so glad there's noticeable fracture, and you are walking ok, but do take it easy, and rest you foot when you can.  It's been so long since I've been on Pred.  I don't remember, I do however remember eating all the time, always hungry and thirsty, and lots of energy.

but don't over do:) MarlaJust one day at a time, That's all God ask of us. for there never really is a tomorrow, as that too is just today:)

My wonderful Dr actually called yesterday to talk about my foot (he's a sports

physician) - he said he was checking for avascular necrosis, as well as the

stress fracture. Thankfully it wasn't present. (It usually just happens in the

hip, but he was being extra careful with me.) I'm to ice my foot for 20 min a

day and use Voltaren (anti-inflammatory) cream on it too. If it doesn't get

better over time, we'll do an ultrasound. Hopefully it's just a tendon or

ligament that's been damaged.

The excess energy is a novelty for me, I've cleaned and de-cluttered almost

every closet and cupboard in the house, and every room, in the past 2 weeks, and

am seriously considering taking on some housecleaning work for friends to earn a

little extra cash while this manic phase lasts, LOL! My house has never been

this organised or clean!

I'm seeing my GP this morning about my high blood sugars - most days I'm going

over 8 at least once (the Aussie scale for normal BGLs is 4-8). Hoping I can

avoid insulin :/ Although if I have to, I'll have a better understanding of my

daughter's situation (she has Type 1 Diabetes, and is on an insulin pump).

xo :)
