Guest guest
Roe, My son had mono two years ago. The worst part for him was the sore throat and fever that ran for two weeks. Yes, you get very run down from mono but this comes after the fever. It can take months to feel on top again. If you were feeling tired before the sore throat, I would think something else is going on as well...maybe your vits. We took my son to the doctor but there was really nothing that could be done except to let it run it's course. It may make you feel better just to know one way or the other. Strep throat can last a while too. My whole family has had this as well. I am sure others on the list can give you more info. Hope you feel better soon, Dawn
Guest guest
Hey Roe, I had MONO about a million years ago in middle school. I was first diagnosed w/ a sinus infection but I knew it was Mono because several kids at school were out with it. About a week after going to the doc. originally, I went back and he did test for Mono. My neck glands were swollen noticably by this time w/2 or 3 big lumps on each side. I also had lumps in my armpits and who knows where else. I was home in bed for a month. No treatment but rest that I recall. It took about 6 months to really feel good again. Thanks, Diane LAP RNY 9/99 > Hello All: > > I am so fatigued that I feel like I can't put one foot in front of > the other! I just looked up Monocucleosis because I've had a sore > throat for 8 says. Guest guest
Roe, I forgot to say my doc. was a regular small town GP. Didn't need a specialist to diagnose. Thanks, Diane > > Hello All: > > > > I am so fatigued that I feel like I can't put one foot in front of > > the other! I just looked up Monocucleosis because I've had a sore > > throat for 8 says. Guest guest
Have you had any labs recently? There are many things that can affect energy level after WLS. These are thyroid problems, anemia, B12 deficiency and probably some other things. I have definately been in your shoes. For me it was all due to low iron, B12, protein, thyroid, etc. Once I got that straigtend out, I felt much better. But it did take time. If I were you, I would have the following labs done to determine if you have any of these problems. Some of these problems can be dangerous. Anemia can be life threatening. .. LAB TESTS Regularly - for gastric bypass patients* *Keep track of any levels which are declining from one set of tests to the next, even if not yet in the low range. Make any corrections necessary in your diet before the levels get too low. > > COMPREHENSIVE METABOLIC PROFILE (sodium, potassium, chloride, glucose, BUN, creatinine, calcium, total protein, albumin, total bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase) > > (Nc,K,C1,CO2,Glu,BUN,Cr,Ca,TP,Alb,Tbili,AP,AST,ALT) > > LIPID PROFILE (cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, chol/HDL ratio) > > (Fasting specimen) , Tchol,Trig,HDL,Calc,LDL) > > ALT (SPGT) > > GGT > > LDH > > PHOSPHORUS - INORGANIC > > URIC ACID > > CBC (HEMOGRAM/PLT/DIFF) > > B-12 & FOLATE > > IRON, TIBC, % SAT > > FERRITIN > > VITAMIN A & D (25-hydroxy) > > THYROID PANEL (T3U, T4, FTI, TSH) > > ZINC > > MAGNESIUM > > SERUM INTACT PTH > > Diagnosis: 579.3 post-surgical malabsorption > > 269.2 hypovitaminosis > > 244.9 hypothyroidism > > 250.0 > > 401.9 Do I Have Mono?????? > Hello All: > > I am so fatigued that I feel like I can't put one foot in front of > the other!
