Guest guest
Hi All I have been on SCD for 1 month 3 days and apart from the hugh improvement in my physical symptoms (Yea!) I am also noticing that I am feeling happier and more resiliant than I have for a long, long time - if ever! Could this be the gut/mind connection Elaine spoke about? I would love to hear of others who have come out of Severe Clinical Depression - as I had pre-SCD - into a greatly improved mood as well as improved memory and concentration. Yea SCD (again)! Cheers AM IBS 15 months SCD 1 month 3 days ps I am a Clinical Psychologist and so depression and mood are a big deal to me :-)
Guest guest
I noticed a huge improvement in my mood as well. I have a number of food intolerances, and really as I gave up each one, my mood improved as well as my physical health. My main gut symptom is constipation and I get diarrhea with foods I don't tolerate (which is a very long list). Once my Celiac test came back positive and I started the SCD, the constipation and bloating went away, as did the tired, foggy, down feeling. My urge to overeat went away. Gut symptoms are gone, in a normal weight range, mental clarity is back, mood improved. Hoping to tolerate more foods on down the road, but HAPPY with what I've seen so far. Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to add. I think you are absolutely right. My son has Crohn's. I was on diet with him. Felt great - mood improved - desire to overeat - gone. Desire for sweets - gone. Then he flared again - I dropped the diet - only cooked for him. Everything is back to what it was - cravings and all. Hope to go back again soon Best of luck and good health to you! Alla. To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Wed, July 21, 2010 9:07:56 AMSubject: Re: SCD - cures? Severe Depression. Guest guest
Anytime you are ill for an extended period of time, I think it's hard to stay 'up'. Makes sense when you start to feel better or even feel better for a day, you feel better mentally. A lot of people don't get that part. When you feel good, it's good. When you're miserables, makes sense it affects you emotionally. Debbie 4r1 cd Hi, I just wanted to add. I think you are absolutely right. My son has Crohn's. I was on diet with him. Guest guest
Hi Kelley,Although I had not a depression before starting SCD, I can tell you I felt horrible for months with the dizziness, sleepiness and all those horrible symptoms that impaired my normal, daily life. I was not depressed, but sad and exhausted on a daily basis. My SCD recovery wasn't as fast as yours, but I can tell you I feel now better like I haven't felt in years!! Not only for the symptoms (really, for what I read from other Crohn patients, what I wonder is how they are not all depressed - strong people!, it's inspiring), but also for the feeling of regaining control of my life (and of the disease). That's very empowering.Good that you are feeling better, keep going!Isabel> >> >>> >>> >> Hi All> >>> >> I have been on SCD for 1 month 3 days and apart from the hugh improvement> >> in my physical symptoms (Yea!)
