Guest guest
Sher, my dear giraffe friend:-) I have been breaking out like crazy too!!! Never has my skin been this bad and yes, the worst part is right under my chin. Somehow knowing that you have it too makes it seem better for me:-) Last week I'd had enough of the pimple situation so marched into a Perricone store (Perricone is some hot shot dermatologist over here on the east coast and I gather on the west coast too). Anyway, I told them all about the surgery and my pimple problem and they gave me a peptide blend in powder that I have to take every morning on an empty stomach mixed with lukewarm water. Apparently the blend helps to get the anesthesia and steroids out of the system and helps your inner body balance itself out. I've been taking it for about 5 days and I have to say it does seem to be helping. The pimples are drying out and I am getting less of them. The only downer about the peptide blend is that it is quite pricey but at this point I am willing to spend a little more to get back my old pimpless skin. Oh and on the flavor of food, ditto! I pour salt all over my food. I realized today that despite the fact that I thought I had regained sensation in my palet, in fact it is completely numb. I thought that since I could rub my tongue against it and feel it then that meant I had sensation. Then today when I brushed my toothbrush against my palet I couldn't feel a thing. Oh well, at least I have sensation in my tongue. I think we'll get our taste buds back eventually. And I will definitely keep on posting update photos of me from Italy, maybe even one of the vineyard! How are you doing other than the pimples and taste bud situation?? Guest guest
Hi there Thanks for the speedy reply---other than the side effects of this lovely surgery, I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised by how well am healing. Must be all the love of my friends and family and of course my good health in general! I find I can go out more and more now...actually did LOTS of things today~took the kids swiming (although I have been told that we are not supposed to swim for 8-10 weeks), shopping for a few needed items, washed and hung laundry (yawn) and scrubbed the inside of my poor, neglectd Honda~nobody seems to care if it shines as much as I do (oh well)....spent some time with my wonderful children and did some studying! Now I must confess that I am a little confused...please straighten me out before I make a fool of myself. Are there two SAra's here? At first I thought Sararegina was the same person as Suzymania and then I thought not and then I thought someone else was calling me giraffe freind and now I am totally confused.....HELLLPPPPP!!hahahha So it is the anesthetic and the steriods that are causing the outbreaks. Hummm, interesting ,,,, well, I wasnt given steriods after surgeru unless at some point I was and didnt realize it...as far as the anesthetic I have been under before for a surgery or two and never had this problem....I wonder how long the pimples last if you jsut let them take their tole? Now the taste buds---I have the same thing on the right side of my mouth! can't feel my tooth brush...driving me kookoo...I must be patient, must be patient, must be patient (oh well, this self talk is not working..the truth of the matter is we don't have a damn choice!!) wish I could find some vets on here that can reassure me that they went through this and now they are once again enjoying the wodnerful aromas and flavors of food!!!! So before I go, is this suszymania that is going to Italy or sararegina or are you the same person,,,,,,,,,heeh Take care~ Sher > Sher, my dear giraffe friend:-) > > I have been breaking out like crazy too!!! Guest guest
Sher, Oh yes, I know the pimples well....I'm almost 4 weeks post-op and still get them! But....they are starting to become less and less as the swelling goes down. And the taste thing, I've been frustrated with that from the beginning....I'm not sure if its the numbness that does it or if it is the fact that we can't chew. I'm sure part of it is because we can't chew...I read somewhere before that when your saliva mixes in with your food, it turns on the tastebuds or something like that. I had a bowl of Fruity Pebbles this morning, which I was looking forward to, but it tasted so blah that I told my hubby he could have the rest of the box. Eating is just not the same:-(. Although, it does seem to be getting better. One thing I could taste, if you have one around you, is a 's bacon and cheese baked potato...it was yummy! (Although, I did add a bit of salt to that too) And KFC mashed potatoes with gravy actually taste the same if not better to me right now:-). I'm counting down the days till I can actually chew again:-).
