Oprah is working on a show (according to her website) for people considering

gastric bypass. From the questions being asked, it doesn't sound like she will

be handling the subject in a biased manner. Waiting to see, of course.

However, I was prompted to write MY story of failed/relaxed stoma and the

heartache

this has caused becuz there is no remedy possible. So folks, I am hoping I

will get to go REALLY public with this " dirty little secret " of RNY, as I call

it. This is not dissing the procedure, but hopefully alerting potential

candidates to a possibility that I personally have not heard ANYone saying their

surgeon cautioned about. And more importantly to advise that how and where your

bypass is constructed dictates whether or not the problem can be corrected (mine

cannot); therefore one should request the procedure be performed in such a way

that one is not doomed to a lifetime problem should the stoma become an

issue.
