Well, honey, I look weird every day of my life, and I don't let that

stop me from going outside. Think of it as an opportunity to see how

the unbeautiful people live. ;-) Luna

Sara,

I am a little over 3 weeks post op and I can still see my stitches.

But, they are a little smaller than they were a week ago so I assume

they are starting to fade away.

As far as going out of the house, I went out 3 days after surgery. I

really didn't want to but some friends were in town and we went to

Starbucks. I didn't have anything but it was still good to get out of

the house.

You look great! Don't worry about it. You will " feel " like people

are looking at you but just get out and enjoy the fresh air.

My doc said that my incisions were pretty much healed after week one.

I noticed the stitches starting to fall out around that time, but they

continued to fall out well into week 6. I think that they are finally

all gone now.

Sara,

Aside from two appointments with my Surgeon, I didn't venture out of

the house for about 1 1/2 weeks, except to sit in the car and run to

the store. At that point, I still wasn't " ready " or " comfortable " but

decided it was for the best. My Boyfriend and I went to the beach and

strolled around, not really talking (which was nice) but just holding

hands and enjoying the sun on our skin. People looked at me ... some

people even stared at me and in my paranoid mind, some folks even

pointed and whispered. :) But, I just decided not to care. I know why

I look the way I do ... who cares if they don't. I don't have to

explain myself to everyone in the world! There's too much going on

out there to not be a part of some of it. So, if you are feeling

cooped up - get out! Start out slow. Go somewhere where there aren't

a lot of people. Just go for a walk around the block. But, don't

stay in if you want to get out. And on the other side of that - don't

go out if you want to stay in. Yes, the fresh air and exercise are

super good for you - but don't force yourself until you're ready. :)

And you will be ready, soon ... not to worry. :)

Oh yeah .. stitches ... funny thing is, mine should have fallen out by

now but I didn't see them come out. <shrug> Thanks for reminding me to

check with my Surgeon about that.

I have just decided what I will say if anyone looks at me funny after

surgery: " Yeah, I just won a boxing championship. You should see the

other girl. " L
