Guest guest
I have the same cravings. I am 3 months out, so I can now have some carbs. I am on a 1000 calorie a day. That helps. AND YES you will be able to have a small amount of the stuff you love in a about a year. At least that is what my Dr. said. Good Luck. ab03091956@... Guest guest
My surgeon is a bit more restrictive that most it seems. He absolutely says no to soups of any kind, they pass too quickly from the pouch and you want to eat more. I don't know from experience as I will be 2 weeks next Tuesday, but my husband was 3 weeks 8/2 and he was started on cottage cheese, low fat or fat free meats that have been run through a food processor or cook egg replacement like egg beaters. 6 meals a day 1 ounce cup at each meal. I am so looking forward to something not sweet. All the protein mixes are sweet and most are milk based and I was never a sweet or milk lover. I did find fruit flavored protein drinks that are making this more bearable. I have spoken to many people who have had this and most said you will begin to eat normally by 1 year at reduced calories which means you can have small amounts of the food you like. Personally I am waiting for a biscuit one tiny little bisquit. I was type 2 diabetic for 6 years before this surgery had had to give those up years ago, but with the biological changes with the surgery I will be able to eat a few more carbs. Guest guest
I ate soups all the time. But I was able to eat soft foods as soon as I was released from the hospital. I eat chicken noodle soup allot. But I drain most of the juice off and eat the noodles and chicken. Pam 305/201/
Guest guest
I was a carboholic. Now, while I don't crave them so much any more, I definitely still eat them in moderation. About your questions: - Popcorn: I can eat a whole bag. Just get the healthy kind - Yes, a little pizza. Atkins has a yummy low carb pizza for one. - I love chinese food but steer clear of duck sauce and fried stuff - Mac and cheese would make me very ill. I don't even like it now - Nuts: I eat tons! - Fast food burger, no bun: I tried it at 8 months and didn't get sick, but realized I didn't want something so unhealthy It's all about making healthier choices. About cravings...It's amazing what the mind will do when the body can't tolerate certain food. I am much less addicted to carbs now. The cravings will diminish and you will be happily seeking out healthier alternatives. Aside from physically feeling great, I am mentally so much better and enjoy looking for healthy stuff. Guest guest
Congratulations on your weight loss . If I have a craving for something I used to love I try to have it in sugar free form. I worked too hard and went through too much for me to eat sugar and things that caused me to need this surgery. Sorry but that is my personal opinion. I try to stay away from the fried foods and desserts unless of course they are sugar free and right now I hardly have them. I concentrate on my protein, then vegetables and then fruit. Meaning I hardly ever get in much of the veggies and fruit...lol. I'm sure that when I'm 12 to 18 months out from surgery I might be thinking differently but for now I stay away from all the no no foods.
