Guest guest
coconut flour and those others would all be advanced and hard to digest - anything can cause D in different people but yes it could be the fiber in the coconut flour for sure - haven't touched any of those and I'm 2 years 5 months on scd - so everyone is different -and have different reactions etc eileen > > I have a hard time digesting lettuce and Kale. Guest guest
Have you tried the baked kale chips? I know I wouldn't be able to eat kale raw, but I can do the chips in moderation- they pretty much turn to dust once you chew them! -Joanna SCD 9/2009, Crohn's 1992, 32.5mg Prednisone > > I have a hard time digesting lettuce and Kale. Guest guest
In beginning leafy vegetables were hard to digest. For me, spinach basically came out looking like it went in. The only way I could tolerate it was to puree it and add it to an egg casserole. If you do not digest Kale well, try cooking it, and pureeing it, and mixing it with another item like scrambled eggs. Eventually you will tolerate things better, but pureed cooked veggies are easier at first. Coconut flour is advanced. I just ate my first coconut Lara Bar after a year on SCD. Guest guest
Sometimes the nut flours are more difficult than butters. Pecan butter seems to be the easiest. Some do ok with macadamia nut butter. It takes time. Coconut flour does not work for me at all but everyone is different. Had the same problem with spinach. Still have to do small amounts sauteed with something else. Tried to do a spinach kugel (like Elana's carrot kugel?) and it didn't go so well. Can't rush things. Haven't tried kale chips, want to wait a little longer so maybe they will go over ok. I've read they have twice the amount of vitamin K that other leafy greens have. Debbie 41 cd In beginning leafy vegetables were hard to digest.
