Guest guest
Can nuts be blanched without soaking them? And then can we just grind them into butter after blanching or do they need to be dried? Thanks >At 10:02 AM 6/2/2010, you wrote: > >> was this ever confirmed to be starch free and legal??/ > >My understanding is that TJs will not provide letters. > >Also, I believe that TJ's almond butter is not blanched, which may be a problem for some people. > > >— Marilyn > New Orleans, Louisiana, USA > Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 > Darn Good SCD Cook > No Human Children > Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund > Babette the Foundling Beagle > >

And then can we just grind them into butter after blanching or do they need to be dried? Some people like to soak the nuts, per the Nourishing Traditions method. Elaine did not recommend this because of her concern about molds and mildews on the soaked nuts if they were not dried properly before being stored. Here is a step-by-step method for making your own almond butter. http://www.indiacurry.com/nuts/almondbutter.htm Ignore the additives and sweeteners at the end. They are illegal. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle

Guest guest
No, it definitely has the skins in it. I think that's part of what's been making me a little loosey-goosey lately. I keep indulging in it -- luckily I finished off the jar and can indulge no more! ;o) Is 1 month too soon for nut butter, anyway? Whole nuts immediately get me doubled over with cramps, so I should be careful with the butter, too, I guess. I'm just so limited right now. ( W. Almost all commercial almond butters, with the exception of Almondie contain the almond skins, which can be problematic for many people. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle

And what kind of nut butter? If it's got the skins, ala almond or some peanut butters, it would be a problem. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Hi Marilyn, I'm one month into the diet, and here's what I'm eating: Breakfast: 4 eggs scrambled with a bit of butter, frozen chopped spinach and frozen shrimp (ingredient: shrimp, salt) 4 strips sugar-free bacon (I was able to find it at Ralph's!) Lunch: Ground beef or bison patty Steamed carrots, green beans, peeled zucchini Dinner: Some type of meat, fish, or fowl, broiled or cooked in (mini!) crockpot Same veggies as above or broiled asparagus with olive oil, salt/pepper Snacks: Raw avocado, ripe banana, almond butter (TJ's raw unblanched -- but I'm stopping now b/c of the skins and loose BMs) Not too varied, I know, but I'm fairly limited with having to take out cow's milk yogurt. I might try the goat yogurt in a bit. I just added the Lyosan Acidophillus. Besides the almonds, anything stand out as being a mistake?? Thanks for your help!! Thanks, W.
