Guest guest
Hello, Just thought I'd touch base. As you may remember I was following the food list for autoimmune disease on the Life Extension site. But I realized I was falling slowly back into some of my old eating habits...2 slices of bread per day, instead of one, a little more meat and less veggies...definitely too much fruit as it seems to fulfill my need of fluids. I have noticed in the past few months, that my pain levels have also increased. So I cut out the whole wheat bread...AND the Truvia (switched to pure Stevia) that I was using to sweeten my lemonade and tea. Trying to eat more apples, melons etc. and less grapes. I know I can not eat any amount of red meats...had two days of very severe depression after cheating and eating a large burger. It went away as quickly as it came, so I'm definitely not going to risk repeating that experience! I'm basically relying on chicken, fish and eggs for my protein. And I now know that sugars and sugar substitutes...other than Stevia are definitely out. Still not sure about the whole grain bread though...maybe it's all of the chemicals/preservatives in it...but I have improved pretty dramatically in the last week or so for some reason. Haven't pinned the exact reason down yet though. I've been watching for posts from on her detox regime, but haven't seen any updates for a while. Does anyone else have any experience or suggestions on using diet to help manage this disease? Thanks in advance! Deb Z. Michigan

Guest guest
I have been taking vitamin E for a few years. It's supposed to help heal a fatty liver (which I developed from the steroids and other chemotherapy I've had). I also take Zinc, which has helped my pain to a fair degree. I stay away from any stimulating of pain inducing foods such as caffeine, ginger, and most hot peppers. I don't say don't eat the peppers as they have several medicinal qualities. I just say beware that they may increase your pain. At the last conference we were told not to take Vitamin D or calcium, as the granulomas produce those in abundance. I would ask your individual doctor first.Hope you find what you need--To: Neurosarcoidosis Sent: Tue, October 5, 2010 4:16:21 PMSubject: Re: Dietary Recommendations? phil mickelson went pure vegetarian in order to tame his autoimmune disorder....attacking his joints...my doc recommended that I eat 75% vegetables...I think it helps Subject: Dietary Recommendations? To: Neurosarcoidosis Date: Tuesday, October 5, 2010, 11:30 AM Hello,Just thought I'd touch base. Guest guest
Thanks, Bill! It's good to know that I'm on the right course with the veggies and a low protein diet. Deb Z.
