Guest guest
Fay, My nose was and still is very sensitive. I have found that aside from my upper jaw and palet it has been the slowest part in terms of gaining back sensitivity. On Monday I will be exactly 4 weeks post-op. I have found that the part that feels strangest still is the outer part that divides the two nostrils, the outer septum so to speak. However, every day I do regain back some sensitivity so I'm sure it will come back eventually. Also, since we had upper jaw surgery our sinuses took a major hitting so it's normal to feel super sensitive in this area. Sara > Hi everyone! > > I am feeling really good today. Guest guest
Hey Sara! Wow! 4 weeks for you already! Hard to believe, isn't it. Thanks for you response(s). I guess I should expect something funky around my nose. what do you think about the bump? It's kinda weird... Fay > > Hi everyone! > > > > I am feeling really good today. Guest guest
Does the lump feel hard or soft? I had a lump near my chin for the first 2 weeks and then eventually it disppeared. I think it was some residual swelling. What does your MLD technician say? To be on the safe side I would ask your doctor about it. If you had rigid fixation this is around the area where the plates/screws were put in so it might be one of them just trying to settle into the bone and having a hard time of it. My motto is always pester your doc to be safe rather than sorry:-) You sound like you're doing great! Keep it up! Sara > > > Hi everyone! > > > > > > I am feeling really good today. Guest guest
Do not panic! It's way soon to worry. But it could be a screw, or part of a plate. When you have work on the upper jaw, sometimes plates and/or screws are placed high up under the eye. They can be removed, if they trouble you. And the removal, from all accounts, is way less intrusive than the maxillary surgery. For right now, tell your doc, and focus on recovery. Bumpy or not, you probably still need that screw/plate to hold everything together, just now. Ask about using ice or heat, and do what your doc suggests. Best wishes, Cammie > Hi everyone! > > I am feeling really good today. No nosebleeds, not too much pain, and > I made a killer shake out of vanilla icecream, canned pears and > cinnamon. Guest guest
Thank you Cammie. Actually I feel a bit silly because I don't know exactly where my plates and screws are. I didn't get to see my x-rays because at the hospital I went to they are all digital...no hard copies anymore. This also makes them difficult to get a hold of. Thanks for the info on how hight they might be. Fay > > Hi everyone! > > > > I am feeling really good today. Guest guest
A: Don't feel silly. You didn't spend all those years and all those bucks in school to become a surgeon. B. Don't forget the part about " ask your doc. " That's important. If you hurt, he should know. What he does or doesn't do about it depends on his judgment regarding your case. But it's important for you to let him know what's hurting. You could have an infection that could be harder to deal with later. He's the one treating you, and he needs the information!!! Can't stress this enough. C: Tell the guy or gal you wanna know where your hardware is! Nothing wrong with that. It's interesting to look, post op, and see just what contrivances they use to put us back together, and you need not be embarrassed. Most docs welcome their patients' interest, I think. > > > Hi everyone! > > > > > > I am feeling really good today.
