Guest guest
I feel the guilt that you are feeling and at the same time I feel betrayed by the ones who were supposed to take care of my daughter but didn't. I know now to trust my own instinct and to be persistent when it comes to getting correct and satisfying answers from anybody. It is comments like yours that make me want to go for a second DOC band and I know now that she will get one no matter whether it's covered or not by Kaiser and no matter whether my husband will approve of it or not. It is hard to live with regrets, especially when they affect those we love and care about but I sure do hope that you find peace some day. Guest guest
Thank you for your kind words and don't let anyone pursuade you to stop until you are satisfied you have done all you can, I am crying even as I write this, it is just so hard to live with the consequences of not doing anything. All I can say is that my son is healthy, very bright and no-one seems to notice except the osteopaths, I just have to find a way of not noticing it myself, it is especially difficult as my second son has a beautifully rounded head and when they sit next to each other or bath together I find it impossible not to compare. and Greg Kennedy wrote From: celtickennedys <celtickennedys@ .co. nz>Subject: Re: Maysa's Reports from Orthomerica and how I feel...PlagiocephalyDate: Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 11:46 PM My god you are so lucky what a difference, my son is 5 and I didn't know until he was 4 that he had bracycephaly and then it was only on the off chance that we went to a CO for something unrelated and he pointed it out. Guest guest
, Thanks. I've already decided that she will get a second one and who knows, maybe a third. Some might think that I am obsessed with it all, I think that I am lucky to be able to still do something about it however small it might be. Just like and Greg mentioned in an earlier post, Maysa also has an older sister with a beautiful round head and I can't help noticing it, especially when they are in the tub. Maysa's head looks better now, because of her curly short hair, but what when she starts wearing pony tails like her sister? With brachy of 93%, it will show for sure. If her CI goes down by another 5% in the second band, that would be great... I would also try to get thebrachy below 90% if you can. Sydney's was about 85 or 86 at graduationand I still see it (ugh). She has some weird angles too, but Iprobably wouldn't notice so much if I weren't now obsessed with headshapes. That is one of the downsides of being aware of plagio.-christinesydney, 3 yrs, starband grad>> Hello all,> > I have posted Maysa's reports from Orthomerica on her blog in onepost and in the one below, I added one about how I feel. Guest guest
Kristy, Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have looked at Zach's picture yesterday and he looks so much better to me as well. 12.4mm seems like a big number but for some reason not on him... I am puzzled though as to why you would want to keep the band on his head at night only. Babies heads grow in circumference all the time and for the 1 month he has left in the band, I would want to get the most out of it before getting to the finish line. Any reason why you don't want him in it 23h a day? I am really curious to hear your answer. And thanks for posting the scans. I have looked through so many pics to try to find a scan to compare with Zach's. Whatever you decide- you will get there. Zach is 15 months and he didn't get started until he was 10 months. I still believe he has gotten pretty good correction even though I was told not to expect as much as a younger baby. - our ortho wanted us to graduate but we said we wanted to go one more month only at night to see if we could get any more correction.. .KristyZach 12.4 plagio15 months oldhttp://www.rkzroger s.blogspot. com >> Hello all,> > I have posted Maysa's reports from Orthomerica on her blog in one post and in the one below, I added one about how I feel. Guest guest
, Glad to see you name on the board again. I've missed reading your notes... I plan on calling CT today because I have some questions about how much optimal correction we could expect from a second band as far as her brachy is concerned. I will then make sure that they have us set up for a second DSi so she could get in it ASAP. Thanks for the suggestion, Leila Maysa, 11m 3w, 9 weeks in DOC band + CST http://mymaysa.wordpress.com/ --- On Wed, 1/7/09, <nwilkens2275@...> wrote: From: <nwilkens2275@...>Subject: Re: Maysa's Reports from Orthomerica and how I feel...Plagiocephaly Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 11:40 AM Hi Leila-I think she looks really good but I also think it's a good idea to go for the second band, which I think you've already decided on. Why not, right? If nothing else, her head stays the same as it is now, but hopefully you'll get the last bit of correction that you need. She's still young enough to see great results with the second. Is CT willing to do it without a problem? I would suggest (if you haven't already) getting scanned for her 2nd one 2 weeks before she's scheduled to be done with her first, that way you can go from the first right into the second with no breaks. That's what we did and I highly recommend it (if a firm decision has been made to do a second one no matter what), if for no other reason than peace of mind that you're not missing a valuable growth spurt or something. Please continue to keep us updated. Good luck!Jake-2 (DOCBand Grad 9/08)Jordan-4.5>> Hello all,> > I have posted Maysa's reports from Orthomerica on her blog in one post and in the one below, I added one about how I feel. Guest guest
It makes more sense to me now. From 19 to 12, that is huge. Early congratulations then! Leila From: Kristy R. <krogers1579@...>Subject: Re: Maysa's Reports from Orthomerica and how I feel...Plagiocephaly Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 12:49 PM Hi Leila, The reason we decided to just band him at night is we are really happy with the results- and he has been in the band for 5 months now. The ortho wanted him to graduate- but we wanted to see if we could go one more month but just for him to wear it at night. 12.4 is still moderate- but he was 19.2 which is very severe when he started so he has come a long ways. I don't know, if he doesnt get any more correction I will be happy with his lttle head -> >> > Hello all,> > > > I have posted Maysa's reports from Orthomerica on her blog in one > post and in the one below, I added one about how I feel.
