Guest guest
Missie, Welcome to the group. Your weight loss is totally awesome. It sounds like you are doing everything right. There could be a number of explainations as to what happened yesterday. I don't know about you but I always seem to associate celebrating anything with food and/or alcohol. I also do the same thing when I am grieving a loss. Could it be that you were grieving your old life, your old friend? Could it be your way of celebrating a year of successful weight loss and a new life? I also know " normal people " who occasionally have a bad food day. The biggest difference with them is that they get back on track in a day or two. The bad food day does not become a habit. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Missie, I hope you mean you're running 2-4 miles four times a *week.* Yikes. After a year, the amount of food I can eat gradually increased. It did this gradually for the last 5 years. It's disconcerting, sometimes I still get concerned about it, but I'm maintaining my weight. I think you're doing the right thing by enjoying your ability to exercise. And I also think it is extremely important, as we talk about so much here, to eat protein as you do. Those carbs go down so easily....they " feel " better because you don't have to chew them to death like meat. And there's less variety with meats and fish than the world of carbs. Can you believe we live in a country where we can even make these choices ???? Thanks ! There's a store by my house that makes great homemade sandwiches. On an indulgent day, I get one half of one of those and small potato chips. The other night, I skipped the chips and ate a whole sandwich. It took twenty minutes and I had to chew it to death, but it's what I needed to eat. So at 5 years, a whole sandwich is still a feat. For lunch sometimes I'll get a BBQ turkey or pork sandwich, toss the bread, and eat a " side " along with it like broccoli salad. The meals are about two cups, give or take depending on density. Last night for dinner, I had a bowl of gazpacho and a plate of carpaccio (raw beef). It was great, but I'm always hungry two hours later. I think it is so incredibly important to do weight bearing exercise in a serious way. The surgery keeps my eating " normal. " The exercise makes for good bone density and muscle burns calories. Take care, in Austin RNY April 1998 1 year out and - 178 Lbs! > Can you guys tell me what you eat in a > day at this point? Are calories something I should concern myself > with.
