Guest guest
>>> I am hoping someone else had encountered what I am now going thru. I had my lap rny w/Dr. Marema on 9/6/01...in fact I see him next Tuesday for my 2 year checkup. His office just called after reviewing my lab results - my iron level is over 2000 - normal range is 50-220. I was told to make an appointment w/a hemotologist ASAP -they want me to see someone BEFORE my appt. w/Dr. Marmema next Tuesday. I am scared to death! I have no idea what to do. I only take their iron pills once per day - 15 mg.>>> Molly, What was your iron level when you had your last labs? Have you been having labs done every 3 to 6 months? Have you noticed a trend - iron slowly going up each time or was this sudden? I wouldn't get too excited right now. There may have even been an error in the lab work. Get your appointment with the hemotologist and be sure to take copies of your labs to that person - both the labs since your surgery and pre op labs. I am sure the hemotologist will do the lab work again and it will be helpful for him/her to have that info. If you do have a problem, there are ways to deal with too much iron in your blood. No need to panic. Let us know how it turns out. Sheri In Sunny Florida
