hello all! I made it!

My surgery was at 8:30 Wednesday morning (2 piece upper leforte 1 for an open

bite and a

cross bite). I guess it only took 2 1/2 hours (My OS said 2-4 hours for

surgery). I did well

and only lost 1/2 a unit of blood, which is very good. I didn't do so hot in

recovery, I

threw up blood twice even with the NG tube still in. Then once I got up to my

room I

threw up again just as my hubby, my mom and my sister came in. So much for good

first

impressions. I felt SO much better afterwards though so I didn't care that

much. The

nurses were great and got me cleaned up right away and discretly into a new

gown. My OS

kept me in the hospital for an extra night just to make sure that I was doing

well enough

to go home, (I didn't eat breakfast that well yesterday morning) so I just got

home this

afternoon. I felt alot better once they took out the NG tube and my catheter

early

yesterday.

My swelling isn't that bad at all, definetly not as bad as some pictures that I

have seen. It

already seems to be going down a little on the right side already so I'm a

little lopsided but

not bad. Most people seem to have a 'worse' side so I'm not too worried about

it. I have

been eating creamy soups and instant breakfasts. Eating is ok, could be better

but it's not

that bad. Taking pills is not fun, usually when I swallow my pills I have to

swallow very

carefully or else it feels like I'm trying to take off my upper jaw. But not

really, it's not

painful it just seems wrong and scary. I have 4 plates and a ton of screws (6-8

per plate)

so nothing is moving for real. My lips are starting to peel and they look

disgusting but

they don't hurt at all, so that's good.

I feel alot better than I thought I would, just very tired easily.

I did notice a weird feeling on my palate and told my OS about it when he came

in to check

up on me. He said that when they expanded my palate (one centimeter!)

unfortunately it

rent (ripped) a little. He said that it should heal up within a week or so.

What concerns me

alot is that when I swallow I feel at times like there is air coming through

from my nose to

up above my front teeth. I'm hoping that this heals up shortly too, I know some

people

have had to go to an ENT after some time to fix up holes in their palates.

Guess we'll see.

My numbess is quickly disappearing. My left side is the worst between the two

(it's also

the more swollen of the two). I would say it is numb from my eye to my mouth

and to my

nose. My right side is only numb for about an inch around my nose. My upper

lip is

mostly good, just a little numb on the upper left corner. Impressive to me!

That's about all for now. Thanks for the help for the past year and for any

future help I

might need.

Hi Corrie,

So glad all went well for you! Great post too! Let us know how you

progress through the recovery. I am glad the eating is going okay

for you too. That is great!

Hugs,
