Tara, Ok, I had to document every yeast infection, every UTI, every Kidney

infection, Kidney stones (what they have to do with reconstructive surgery I

am not sure, but I documented it anyway) had them culture the infections to

see what was causing them and what they were resistant to. Took pictures of

all the BUTT yeast infections (this because I feel that my UTI's are caused

because of multiple yeast infections) so I would get approval of a butt

lift...and all this can't be finished without the inner thigh lift...because

the extra skin would just pull everything out of place. They had so many

pictures of my yeast infections that it was becoming a standing joke with my

family practice doctor! BUT...and this is a BIG BUT....it was ALL there for

the Tricare board to see. Something like this HAS to go before a board. I

was denied the first time, because of the Plastic Surgeon they sent me to.

He was convinced that I had my original RNY at a military hospital .... And

NO MATTER how often I told him my surgery was done by a civilian doctor he

kept saying that Madigan (the local military hospital) would take care of

me! Then he wouldn't listen to me about my infections...even though I had

brought a picture for him also. So....he put in that he felt it was

cosmetic. DENIED!!!!!!!!!!!! I called Tricare and told them that I did NOT

like the Doctor they had sent me to. I did this BEFORE he could even put in

his recommendations. So, we did another referral and asked for a second

opinion. This time they sent me to the University of WA! By now, the nurse

at the second level (after the first person you talk to when you call

Tricare....but below the board) knew my story and felt that it was a medical

necessity. I was originally asking for a lower body lift, but the surgeon I

saw at UWA said I wasn't a candidate for it (not enough hanging skin all the

way around), but that the TT with a butt lift and an inner thigh lift would

do what was needed. Between his wonderful write up and my family practice

doctor's fabulous write up it was approved. I had the FULL support of my

family practice doctor, however! And he even volunteered to write another

letter if I got denied, in my support. WHATA guy! When I went to leave him a

message on his message line to tell him we had gotten me approved....he was

on LEAVE! LOL How rude. Here I was calling a doctor with GOOD news and he

wasn't even there!

Gee, I hope this novel help you in your quest for Tricare approval.

OH MY GOSH--- I WANT A Tummy tuck so bad , I have tricare prime!!!!!! I have

been thinking about going all the way back to colorado FortCarson to have my

surgeon do it so i didnt have to deal with tricare. You give me hope. I DO

KNOW FOR A FACT that you can get your BOOBS done- all you have to do is pay

the cost of the implants, Once you get the referral you can go TDY( being a

spouse, so that means they pay for lodging and meals and miles, while you

get your boobs done) to the nearest military installiontion that has a

plastic surgeon. Im waiting to get our income tax return before i get my

referal, it is about 800-1000 bepending on the implants you order... OH

help me get my TT without travling 1200 miles!!!!!!!!!!!! Tara

Tara, Good luck. I hope you don't have to go through all the pain and agony

to get this. I know that Tricare will pay for a panni removal, but they

really insist on it being a medical necessity to get the more extensive

surgery's. I wouldn't wish what I have been through this year on

anyone....not even to get a tummy tuck.
