Guest guest
Hi, I also ordered from this company - two different times and mine too was not cold, even though there were ice packs - just too hot to keep it cold for 2 days of shipping. I just stuck them in the frig and hope they are alright.kt>> Question. My Gi ProStart came through the mail a few days back and although it appeared to have been cold packed, everything was warm. I quickly put it in the fridge but haven't used it yet. Any opinions on this? Would it be safe to use? I sure hope so as that one dinky bottle plus shipping was a lot of money!>
Guest guest
That is OK. As long as you put it in the refrigerator when you receive the package, the bacteria will be fine. The cold packs usually only last 24 to 36 hours, and shipping takes 48 hours. But the bacteria won’t be harmed inside the package for a day or two, even if the outside temperatures are in the 90s. Just put it in the fridge as soon as you get it. This has happened to me every time I order L. Acidophilus or yogurt starter. Haven’t had any problems afterwards. Kim M. Guest guest
Mine has always arrived warm as well. However, I have had no issues with my yogurt setting or anything. It's just frustrating that their shipping cost is so astronomical and supposedly because of the probiotics needing to be cold. - > > Question. Guest guest
Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. Keep in mind if you make yogurt from whole milk instead of heavy cream or half and half, it will be be a little on the thin side. Just line a large strainer with a cotton cloth and put it in a bigger bowl, pour your yogurt in there and let it drip until the thickness you want. This might make it more tolerable too!!! Guest guest
Me, too. In fact, I JUST finished emailing them to ask if there wasn't a better way to get their stuff. A closer place to buy it maybe? I had my previous order, SCdophilus and S. Boullardi, sent w/ 2 freezer packs and they arrived warm ... but this IS Texas!! Still, I guess they were alright. W/ starter it would be obvious. Don't know w/ these other things. Guest guest
This response just received from GI ProHealth: " We do not have any stores in TX, but there is no need to worry about your probiotics getting to you warm. Just so you know all our probitoics can stay out of the fridge for as long as two weeks if the temperature was 70F or below. It would then at that time lost less then 3% of its active cultures. The warmer the temperature the shorter the time span that it will stay out of the fridge. So a package at 80F would last about 6 to 7 Days before a rapid decline in potency takes place. If the temperature was 100F it would last about 4 days before the rapid decline takes place. When we ship to you with ice packs and in an insulated carton it will keep the probiotics cool for the first two days of its journey to you then when it arrives at your door warm it has only been warm for 15 to 20 hours at the most. Which would mean a very minimal amount of exposure to warmer temperatures. If you have any other questions or concerns just let us know. Thank You Joe Ferro GI ProHealth " Sounds like we're okay!
