Carol,

I'm so glad you brought up the sneezing because for the past 2 days I

have felt a sneeze coming on and I have been petrified. Yesterday when

I went out for the first time the pollen must have gotten to me because

there I was walking with my boyfriend and then I stopped right in the

middle of my tracks and held that sneeze in with all my might. Thanks

to you now I know not to panic and just let it go its course. Yes we do

live in a strange pre-op world. It suddenly occurred to me today that

maybe now all sorts of styles of sunglasses will look good on me now

that I have a chin of some sort. I know, simple minds are easily

pleased:-)

Sara,

I've sneezed half a dozen times now ( I guess once I knew I could my

body started making up for all the time I didn't. ) and it's been

okay. It's a little tense but not painful.

Yeah, it's the little things in life that make me happy. Maybe I'll

check out some new shades too. :)

Carol,

I forgot to tell you that I finally sneezed on Monday night. Boy was

it scary for me! I kept my mouth shut and then held onto my cheeks

but I felt like my palet was falling apart. For some reason my

biggest paranoia at the moment is my palet. I keep on feeling the

bones in it moving around and popping. Is anyone else feeling this?

Dr. Sachs said that it was nothing to worry about but he also said

that I was the first patient to ever complain about that. I guess to

each their own.

Sara,

I don't know if this will help - but try keeping your mouth open next

time. It sounds gross - but it will reduce the pressure differential

between your nose and mouth and may help you palate feel more stable.

I know they told me to only sneeze with my mouth open for the same

reason.

you know Becky, just after I sneezed I realized that you had said that

you were told to keep your mouth open when you sneezed and I said to

myself, damn it girl! Listen to Becky, she knows what she's talking

about!

Hi there,

Well, I havent had the sneeze attach yet, but I have been waiting for

it (not excitedly I must add!!) but I am sure I will try to hold my

face together too!! I had my bottom jaw and palate done as well and I

too, have the popping and crunching. I called my ortho surgeon who

said it was normal, so hope that helps you feel better..

Sara,

Well, congrats on getting past your first sneeze! :)

I don't have any advice to give about your palate. But, I will try

and put a postitive spin on it and say that if you're the first to

question it ... that makes you special and unique!

(okay, sometimes I'm just a dork!)

,

The idea of you " banking " future sneezes made me laugh out loud! I

wish you had told me about that idea last week - maybe I would have

tried it :P
