Guest guest
Well I had my Upper GI today and Barium Swallow and it's confirmed. My " pouch " has rejoined with my old stomach and basically my tool is useless. This is very very rare and has never happened with any of my surgeons patients, leave it to me though. This is why I do not get full, ever and I am constantly hungry. I go for an endoscopy next week to few the size of the tunnel that has formed and most likely will go in for a revision within the next two weeks. Scared? That would be an understatement. I would love to hear from anyone that this has happened to and the outcome?!? Please advise.
Guest guest
Well, my situation is different from yours, but the end result is pretty much the same. I never get full either and am constantly hungry. Have been pretty much since about 3 months out. MY surgeon, however, steadfastly refused to address the issue (other than to tell me to " eat more salad) and I had to go elsewhere to get scoped and find out that my stoma was a) not made small enuf to begin with and had also relaxed on its own as well. So there's nothing to keep the food in the pouch. Pouch is just fine and only 15cc capacity. But useless nonetheless bcuz of the non-functioning stoma. I know it's hard to not be scared, but I would offer another emotion you could perhaps try to replace it with: gratitude. Be glad that your problem CAN be fixed. Mine cannot. The surgeon did not leave enuf space between stoma and esophagus for any " fix " to be effected, and I am now locked into constant hunger for a lifetime. My only possible chance to lose some more weight (I lost only a little more than half what I needed to) is to get a revision to distal and rely totally on the greater malabsorption--which carries a whole new set of possible difficulties. I had asked the new surgeon to put into my insurance co for approval nonetheless. Two days after he did, I got notice my insurance is changing. Gotta start all over. I have no outcome to tell you at this point. Just that if you have faith in your doc (and possibly a higher power), rely on that. And consider that altho' you've developed a problem, at least it's fixable. Wishing you luck and success with the surgery.
