The thing that strikes me as I read thru the posts is how each persons

experience is *so* different. One person walks out the hospital after surgery,

someone else can't leave the house even after 2 weeks....one person has numbness

2 years post surgery, someone else has no numbness at all......ever.

Sort of how we all talk about our appearances ( " my chin's too long " ; " my smile

is too gummy " , " my face isn't symetrical " ) we are all different...no right or

wrong, no good or bad....just different. Seems we should be as accepting of

each others differing responses to surgery as we are to each of our differing

appearances.

None of us can bank on coming out of this with a perfect result; that would be

great, but with a bell curve someone is at the top and bottom! OK, that's all

from " Connie and her 2 cent orchestra! "

On the cool side...I've lost 12 lbs since surgery on 6/22...(connie does her

happy dance while holding the left side of her face so it doesnt' hurt as much!)

But I am soooooo pathetic....at a July 4th party I was like.... " an I mell yu

foo? " Meaning.... " can I smell your food! "

Saw the OS today, he showed me how to change my bands, twice a day. Next week I

go for a recheck and then the following week (6/18) I get my splint removed and

he makes a removable splint???? sounds like a retainer thang.

I also went back to work today for 7 hours (ER nurse) and only had one patient

seem uptight that I couldnt' speak very well and say " What? " I'm doing 4 hours

Friday and 4 Hours Sat and then back to my usual chaotic schedule of working prn

(when they have a need and I feel like working---usually about 50 hours a week!)

Anyways....off to smell the shrimp scampi by Beau is making and I'm going to

totally gross him out and put some in the blender!!!! YUM!!!

Hugs, Connie

a,

I'm sorry if my post caused you any offense. It wasn't meant to be

directly just for you or imply that you were giving misguided

advice. It was a heads up for everyone since not everyone gets to

change their bands after a few days and can pass right away to soft

food. Indeed, some people have had trouble changing their own bands

and had to go to their OD or OS to get them changed. Food seems to

be such a very big preoccupation for a lot of pre-opers. Just

providing some friendly advice:-)
