Guest guest
Yeah, was tested for that. Nope, not a problem with it. Scares me though. Guest guest
Well if you are finally sick and tired of not feeling good...GREAT! you are ready to absorb info! Hehe I had to reach that before I started getting back on track. 1) I take 2 shakes a day and sometimes 3..and once in a great while 4. It depends if I feel I'm in control of my cravings. Some days I think our bodies just require more fuel. Atleast 2 shakes would get you the minimum protein you need at 30 grams a pop. I have 2 real meals a day typically that include a lean protein such as tuna, cottage cheese, shrimp, chicken and I balance that out with half a fruit and some vegetables and some nuts for my fat. For snacks it depends, a slice of cheese and veggies or beef jerky etc. I stick to one fruit a day and I don't limit myself on non starchy vegetables. I tend to not overdue those anyway lol....kinda ironic. I am also proximal and at goal (for myself anyway). 2) I think if you email vitalady she can answer this one better for you. Think she needs how much you are bypassed and what your surgeon's name is. 3) same as number 2. We were bypassed and we will lack absorption of certain vitamins. So I really don't fully agree with taking a normal multivitamin *unless* one also takes more supplementation in the areas we become deficient in due to this operation. If you are getting your blood work done regularly, atleast you can catch something before it gets worse..well some deficiencies show up in blood work...some do not though so beware. The vitamins that we either lack absorbtion or we have it diminished (from my readings) are: Iron, Calcium, Fat-soluble Vitamins A, D and E and Vitamin B12, Folic Acid and B1 and B6. Make sure your B12 is either injection or dissolvable tablet under the tongue and that your calcium is citrate but I think you mentioned you took that anyway. 4) You may want to try a shake in the morning and see..it's kinda fun to experiment Only you know your body. Hard to say on this one..could be anything. Remember, coffee is a dehydrator and an appetite stimulant..so you will need to make sure that you drink more water to replace what it dehydrates. 5) One sometimes just has to get to the " i've no more tolerance for this crap " to change thy ways hehe. I'm also thankful to this group. Very informative. Is your butt sore now from being kicked? Sherra Rally the troops..... > ..... I can't eat anything in the morning first thing so I just have a protein shake - maybe you could try that? I mix mine up right before I walk out the door and drink it on the drive in. Have you had your blood checked lately to see if you're running low on anything - particularly I'm thinking B-12 and iron? If not, maybe that wouldn't hurt. Also, do you think it would be worth having your mechanics checked out? If this surgeon has a bunch of malpractice suits pending against him, perhaps it would be worth checking to make sure you got what you signed up for. Hope you feel better soon! Had sleep apnea big time. Got put on a c-pap (similar to a bi-pap) machine, and was 100% better after the very 1st nite on it. Just a thought this may be your problem. Guest guest
Sally thanks so much. Mechanics were check out 2 months ago. I do have a protein drink first thing in the morning... nothing seems to be working. I'm seeing a neurologist on Monday... I drove off the road this morning because I dozed. I'm o.k. the old 1991 Subaru is o.k., but it scared the crap out of me. I called my Dr. and told her it's getting worse, she told me to see the neurologist. My regular doctor thinks its part of my newly diagnosed fibromyalgia, but she wants to cover her butt and mine. I'm glad about that. I very scared right now they are going to attempt to take my license away. I can't do that. I live in the boonies and it takes me a half hour to get to work. Obviously not within walking distance. I'll let you know how I make out. Oh, and as for having blood drawn.... I've had vials and vials of it drawn in the last 2 months. I had a high uric acid level and a high SED rate. That's about all anyone has told me. Also my thyroid levels are borderline hypo according to the endocrinologist, but they don't " treat " borderline. Bed is the only place I want to be lately. Hugs, Tigger Re: Rally the troops..... > --On Friday, November 07, 2003 3:43 AM +0000 Graduate-OSSG > wrote: > > > 4. I've had a horrible problem lately when I'm driving into work. Guest guest
Re: Rally the troops..... Also my thyroid levels are borderline hypo according to the endocrinologist, but they don't " treat " borderline. ***This makes me so mad! I was borderline for half my life. Getting my thyroid up to a little past the middle range, was a real milestone for me. I'm not saying that it's necessarily your whole problem, but it was a huge amount of mine. Since my thyroid was upped (both T3 and T4) about 3 years ago, I have not felt that tired ever again. It also significantly improved my chronic, life-long depression. Good luck, I hope you can find out what's wrong and that someone will help you do something about it. I read on Dr. Weils website that the patients he sees who find answers and solutions for their problems are the ones who just keep searching and searching and never give up. Guest guest
well as a fellow sufferer of fibro, I can tell you it is part of the problem. The main treatment for fibro is to straighten out the sleep cycle so that you are getting 8 hours of quality sleep and then to gradually increase exercise. It is one of the reasons I changed jobs. I was (and still am) working the midnight shift, but I was traveling 35 miles to work and back and I can't tell you the number of times I fell asleep driving. I would pull off and try to nap, but of course then you can't cause you are waiting for the trooper or sheriff to pull up and give you the alcohol test! I have found the only way for me to get the required amount of sleep is to take 2 (yes 2) flexaril about an hour before bedtime, and then an ambien as I am getting into bed. The ambien puts me to sleep and the flexaril keeps me asleep. On those days when I have appointments and can't take the meds, I ache for 2 days after. Just something to think about Phyllis Re: Rally the troops..... > --On Friday, November 07, 2003 3:43 AM +0000 Graduate-OSSG > wrote: > > > 4. Guest guest
Was tested a few years ago and everything was fine. Of course, that doesn't mean it's fine now. Seeing a neurologist on Monday. Wish me luck.
