I had no idea Lithium was a medication. I was thinking Lithium

batteries...something along the lines of mercury poisoning. Amazing what we

learn on these

lists.

Lithium is a medication - as your weight decreases, and your condition

changes, it is not unusual for your dose to be titrated (decreased ).

Has your doc been doing so?

LOL, , If I had not spent the last 25 years as a nurse I would

have thought the same thing.

Tara,

Lithium isn't found in food and drink (I suppose in some circumstances

there COULD be trace amounts in tainted foods?)

Lithium is an element that is used as a drug therapy for mood

disorders, most commonly, bipolar disorder (also known as manic-depression).

Certain foods and drinks can interfere with blood levels of lithium in

users of this medical treatment.

Unless you are taking Lithium for a diagnosed medical condition, toxicity

from it is not a concern.

My post was incorrect. I suffer from a bipolar condition., Lithium is

a drug that is frequently used to treat this condition. When I took it

pre op, it eventually caused tremors which stopped when I switched to

another drug. Sorry for the confusion.

Did it hurt your stomach? My son took it briefly and it fried his stomach.

A doc also dx me bi-polar (it was trendy that year) and, since I am already

the queen of ulcers, it fried me fast, too.

When my son was a away and I cleaned his room (as in REALLY cleaned it?) I

musta found 100 lithium in every corner, in dirty sox. Sigh. I wondered why

it had no effect (except on my $$$)

The lithium had no noticeable effect on my stomach. It did not help my

bipolar condition. It was my wife who noticed the tremors. It is the

drug of choice for bipolar conditions and is usually very effective.
