Guest guest
Sher, It seems to me at only 13 days post-op it is still normal not to have regained all your sensitivity and typically one side is always slower than the other. I don't know why but the doctors are always telling me this. However, I would raise your concerns with your doctor so that he can look into it if needs be. As for the sensitivity along the gums and when you brush. Yup I've got the same thing too. And it shifts from day to day. Some days it's really sore on one spot, the next day on a totally different spot. I can't figure it out but I guess it's all normal and just the mouth getting back to being its old self. And the tingling always gets me excited because it's a sure sign that nerves and muscles are coming back to life! So do like me, when I get a tingle i do a little dance of merriment:-) Sara > HI guys--I know I asked this a couple tmes before but just wondering if > anyone eslse can relate to me--it is so strange b/c I feel that if it > werent for my right TMJ I would be able to open my mouth really wide. Guest guest
Sher I am 8 weeks post op, and I was just unwired 2 weeks ago. I also feel like I could open really wide if it weren't for my right TMJ. It is very stiff and painful. I also had problems with this side before the surgery, so my doc said this is normal. He also told me that I may only be able to open about 80% as wide as I used to be able to. That is discouragin to hear. I do find that I get better each week, but I can't really imagine opening much wider than I can right now. However, I really hope this gets better because it is even difficult to eat an ice cream cone. You know, that little bottom piece of the cone. It is too big to fit through the opening. > HI guys--I know I asked this a couple tmes before but just wondering if > anyone eslse can relate to me--it is so strange b/c I feel that if it > werent for my right TMJ I would be able to open my mouth really wide. Guest guest
Hi ---First of all congratualtions for lastin g6 weeks with wires. I honestly think I would have gone insane!! You are brave for sure! As far as not being able to get the little end of a cone in--- do you try to slowing open and close your mouth (exercise) before you start to eat? That is what I do. I would hazard to guess that since you wired for so long , it may take a little longer for you to regain your range of motion. Don't get too discouraged yet...I am sure it will come. The right side of my face is the part that bothered me most before surgrey too. It was the side that would clunk in and out of place etc. Funny, because the left side is the one that was the most painful (and was showing early signs of arthritis)...lets hope for the best for all of us. I can't believe how many people suffer from this problem (when you think you are the 'only' one) Kind of like when I bought my nice black honda and then realized about half the community owned one too ............hahhahha > > HI guys--I know I asked this a couple tmes before but just > wondering if > > anyone eslse can relate to me--it is so strange b/c I feel that if > it > > werent for my right TMJ I would be able to open my mouth really > wide.
