Guest guest
sara - thanks buddy! they really do think they are helping us out - but sometimes they're just so frustrating ) i can say he's been very patient with me (there's that word again) - and as previously stated, as been feeding me very well. the splint is definately not fun. i don't know about you - but i have a million stiches in my upper jaw. they seem to be everywhere. there's definitely some right my my front two teeth - so at least i'm not getting irritated by the wires ) have we come to any conclusions about how long the stiches stay around? i went for another walk - getting very close to the movie theatre this time - and actually feel a whole lot better. it's good to know these funks will come and go ) thanks again to everyone - i'm so happy to have found this group ) -becky
Guest guest
Becky, I ventured into Bloomies today after my ortho app. My mother decided I needed some retail therapy to cheer me up. Now we all know how chaotic Bloomies is so I was especially proud of surviving it for a full 2 and half hours. The best part was trying sunglasses on. I used to only be able to wear one style of glasses because of the shape of my face. Basically anything that was in style and on the moviestars looked just downright stupid on me. Today instead virtually any style I tried on suited me. It was sooooooooooooooo nice!!! Really made me feel good about the surgery. I know it's stupid but it made my down funk go back up. And so I have come to the conclusion that every day i must find something small about the new me that pleases me. Today it was sunglasses, tomorrow I will try on my old jeans and the day after I will realize that I am the Queen of all that is pureed and blended:-) Great practice for motherhood they tell me. As for the stitches, I have no idea how long they stay in or how many I have in my mouth. I seem to keep on finding news ones but the one that bugs me the most is the one right underneath the center of my nose. That one is a killer. I'm doing mouthwashes like no tomorrow and also hydrogen peroxide to make sure they are all clean and to aid them in getting the hell out of my mouth. I'll ask my surgeon tomorrow about the duration of their stay and will let you know, ok buddy. And yes, lunch sometime when we can actually talk would be funnnn! We can compare notes:-) S xx > sara - thanks buddy! they really do think they are helping us out - > but sometimes they're just so frustrating ) i can say he's been > very patient with me (there's that word again) - and as previously > stated, as been feeding me very well. > > the splint is definately not fun. i don't know about you - but i have > a million stiches in my upper jaw. they seem to be everywhere. > there's definitely some right my my front two teeth - so at least i'm > not getting irritated by the wires ) have we come to any > conclusions about how long the stiches stay around? > > i went for another walk - getting very close to the movie theatre this > time - and actually feel a whole lot better. it's good to know these > funks will come and go ) > > thanks again to everyone - i'm so happy to have found this group ) > > -becky
Guest guest
bloomies for 2.5+ hours?!? that's pretty impressive! my mom is always suggesting retail therapy as a way to cure my blues. hey - if she's paying i'm smiling ) it's so cool that all types of sunglasses were working for you! i hope you got some big jackie-o ones that you can wear with a scarf as you drive along the country side in your convertible. i really have this wonderfully romantic life pictured for you i don't know if i'm up to putting that many glasses on my nose - but when i am i'll let you know... as for old jeans...well we know joey's not letting that happen tonight he fed me soup and ice cream. it's all over for me. no secondary weight loss. i just had a big post-surgery recovery moment! i gave joey a little kiss on the lips ) i know this may be kinda sappy - but it's a combination of little triumphs. first - i can touch my lips together. second - i can move them. and finally - they're not completely numb! yeah!!! hope you have a wonderful night - and good luck at the surgeon tomorrow ) -becky
Guest guest
Becky, I almost went for the Jackie-O glasses and then decided to go for the J-Lo ones. Next week I'll cheer myself up with the Jackie-Os and I have just the perfect scarf to wear them with. Must keep the fantasy alive!:-D Saw your pics. You look great! The swelling has gone down dramatically since day 1 and you CAN see your chin. I think it's the puffy cheeks that probably seem to make it look smaller than it really is. Funny story. Today when I was in the elevator at Bloomies and looked in the mirror and touched my puffy cheeks sorely this woman next to me said, " it's good, makes you look younger, i wish i had some too. " So there you go, someone can be envious of us even in a post-op state! Guest guest
Becky The first thing my boyfriend did when he saw me post-op was give me a gentle kiss on the lips. I was right out of surgery, so they were gross, cracked, stretched lips, so that was just the sweetest thing. However, he did bring that nice thought to an abrupt stop when he said it was like kissing a dead fish! I can laugh about that now. ) It was nice to be able to finally kiss him back. > bloomies for 2.5+ hours?!? that's pretty impressive! my mom is > always suggesting retail therapy as a way to cure my blues. hey - if > she's paying i'm smiling ) > > it's so cool that all types of sunglasses were working for you! i > hope you got some big jackie-o ones that you can wear with a scarf as > you drive along the country side in your convertible. i really have > this wonderfully romantic life pictured for you i don't know if > i'm up to putting that many glasses on my nose - but when i am i'll > let you know... > > as for old jeans...well we know joey's not letting that happen > tonight he fed me soup and ice cream. it's all over for me. no > secondary weight loss. > > i just had a big post-surgery recovery moment! i gave joey a little > kiss on the lips ) i know this may be kinda sappy - but it's a > combination of little triumphs. first - i can touch my lips together. > second - i can move them. and finally - they're not completely numb! > yeah!!! > > hope you have a wonderful night - and good luck at the surgeon > tomorrow ) > > -becky
