Guest guest
Hi Miriam- I too noticed some bruising on my boys’ noggin. He has had the DOC band on now for 5 days. I noticed last evening when we were having our bath time. I had been more preoccupied with watching the red spots that I didn’t even think to check for bruises until we were in the bright bath room lights while having our bath. His bruising is on the right “side burn,” area of his head. I looked all over after seeing that one to make sure he had no others and that does appear to be the only bruise so far. It is concerning but I am just trying to have faith that the pain must be very minimal as Dylan (baby) does not seem to be having any problems at all with the DOC band. The way I see it; if he is ok; no real personality issues, uncontrollable fussing, etc... than he has got to be fine. If he sees me panic, I fear that it will rub off on him. You better believe that I will be asking his technician at the next DOC band appointment about this though. Were you concerned because of the discoloration, OR concerned because it’s a bruise? I would probably ask the pediatrician last and the CT folks first as they see these so much more. Trying to be cool, calm and collected…… 5 days down and about 65 more to go with the band. I just came back from the orthotist and am still very uneasy. He said that it is ok, and if the baby would be in stress he would have cried. I took off the helmet since saturday and put it back on today. Has anybody had such an experience? replies are appreciated. I am so worried. I want to finish wearing the helmet. I probably have 2 more weeks but i am so worried about the skin discoloration. Do u think i should go to the pediatrician. Please reply soon waiting miriam mom to ely 61/2 months 6 weeks in helmet. Guest guest
It makes sense that a baby would cry if uncomfortable, but my son once did not cry even though he had an ear infection. Even though the ortho said it's fine, I'd err on the side of caution and call the pediatician. help baby skin in back of head is blueish help Hi, I met my sister in law saturday and i took off my sons helmet to show her the difference, she made me aware that my sons head in the back is a little blue, a 1 inch strip from 1 ear to the other across. Guest guest
Hi, thanks for all your replies. I just came back from my sons pediatrician. He told me the blue marks on his head looks ok. It probably is something called mongolian spots blueish marks that usually appear on the spine and lower back of a baby and subsides in a couple of years. I read that it is mostly uncommon to appear on the head or face. It usually comes on people who r from asian descent which is not the case by us. He said that it doesnt look bad and i shouldnt worry. So the helmet is back on and my sons head is back under construction for another 3-4 weeks hopefully.
