Guest guest
great news!!! welcome!! you can buy Knox unflavored gelatin on the Jello aisle if that's ok with you??? also DCCC is called Freindship Farmers Cheese - near cream cheese white rectangle plastic package good luck and do NOT attempt RAW veges!! pecanbread.com gives stages that can help guide you thru the diet -those are REALLY advanced - you may take steps backward and forward keep this positive attitude up!! eileen 2 1/2 years scd > > Hi all - I'm really excited - after only one day of this diet (intro > diet) this morning for the first time in years I didn't have the urgent > need to get to the bathroom the minute I woke up AND no D when I did > feel the need after breakfast. Quark is a fresh cheese which still has a bunch of lactose in it, so, no, it's not SCD legal. Guest guest
Thanks - I'm not to keen on eating red meat, so I wanted to find a different source for the gelatin. I did break down and make some with the Knox - fresh apple cider - it wasn't bad! The Friendship Farmer cheese is not available in this area. I'm in Idaho - there are lots of things not available here! I've also read the stages on the pecanbread site, but was also told that Elaine didn't really follow that. I think I'll just go slow and see what works and what doesn't. I'm going to really miss the chocolate! kt > > > > Hi all - I'm really excited - after only one day of this diet (intro > > diet) this morning for the first time in years I didn't have the urgent > > need to get to the bathroom the minute I woke up AND no D when I did > > feel the need after breakfast. Chocolatealchemy.com As for the gelatin - if you don't want to pay shipping, which I totally understand, because it makes it ridiculously expensive, it may help you to know, intellectually- speaking, that under Jewish religious law, because of the preparation, gelatin made from beef is considered so denatured that it is no longer considered a " meat " dish and is considered neutral - neither meat nor milk, something you can have with either. Which is fairly unique as food items go. May be the only one - though I'm not positive on that latter. Now this wouldn't satisfy a vegan, but if it is just a red meat thing - it may help. FWIW. Guest guest
Really? Cocoa butter is okay? I couldn't find it listed either in the legal/illegal list or in the knowledge base. What's the recipe for pecan butter brownies with cocoa butter? I made the recipe for peanut butter brownies in BTVC this morning but used my own pecan butter instead since I " m not eating peanut butter yet. It turned out pretty well but kind of cakey, and I would love to make them taste more like chocolate! misha The first time I made the pecan butter brownies (called Pecanies in my house) my husband (not SCD) asked " do these have ch-c-l-te in them? Guest guest
I've found that cooking the brownies longer makes them more cakey. I prefer them to be dense (and rather flat), so cook them a little less. Then I cut them up and freeze them. A frozen almond butter brownie is heaven to me! I don't why, but they just seem tastier. Guest guest
Can you tell me which cook book that recipe is from?
