Guest guest
Hi All I posted a recent pic of my new perfect bite, or as perfect as it will get. If you compare the latest pic to the one of my bite pre-surgery you can see what amazing job my surgeon did. I have absolutely no overbite anymore. Amazing! I'll try to get some good photos of my face this weekend as well so that you can see how much my swelling has gone down. I've been having an MLD massage every day since Monday and it really has been helping. Also have been taking long walks around the city and drinking lots. Hope everyone's recovery is proceeding well and any pre-oppers who are approaching surgery (yes Luna, that includes you!) aren't getting too nervous. Thinking of all of you from Italy. Guest guest
Sara, Your bite is beautiful! The before and after shots are amazing. I'm very excited for you! I'm trying to remember if you had both upper and lower? Did you have a bone graft? I hear the graft site from the hip usually hurts worse than the upper palate and has me the most nervous about the surgery. Guest guest
Hi Sara, Your bite looks amazing! You have certainly come a long way. You must be elated. How is it going with the banding? Does everything feel stable to you? I have been thinking of you about this and am hoping for the best! Guest guest
Diane, thanks for the compliment:-) I am very pleased with the results. I had an upper le forte where my upper jaw was segmented in three pieces then shifted up 1mm and shifted back 3mm. This allowed my lower jaw to move up. In total my face has shortened 9mm, 7 mm just from the lower jaw moving up and 2mm from the genio I also had. Luckily for me my lower jaw just swung up and fell into the perfect position, otherwise I would have needed to surgically move my lower jaw. My upper palate was expanded by 4mm but I did not have a hip bone graft. Becky on this site did however and I am sure she can provide you with some insight regarding that. I also had two upper bicuspids removed. It sounds like a lot but I'm glad I got it all done in one go. Now I just need to get my wisdom teeth out and finish the orthodontics which is estimated to take 4 to 5 more months. Hope this provides some helpful insight. Sara > Sara, > > Your bite is beautiful! Guest guest
Fran, Thanks! Everything does feel stable thankfully! I'm down to wearing the bands only at night so very good progress. Fingers crossed I'll keep up this most excellent recovery:-) Sara > > Hi All > > > > I posted a recent pic of my new perfect bite, or as perfect as it > will > > get. Guest guest
Hi Sara, Your pictures are great....what a wonderful job your surgeon did! You are also an amazing healer....you don't even look swollen at all anymore. I'm 18 days post op today - and although my swelling is down considerably from last week - I still have a ways to go. I don't know if that's because I'm a slow healer (usually I'm not)...or if it's because of how much was done to me when I was in the operating room....I have no idea! I still have swelling around my nose, cheek area (especially right below my eyes), and my jaw/neckline. I'm trying to be patient - but I still look like I'm storing up a few nuts for the winter yet...LOL (the chipmunk look, I guess you could say). Back to you now...your new bite looks terrific, and I'm looking forward to seeing the newer pictures you're going to post too :-) I haven't had an MLD massages or anything - I've just been trying to gently massage my own face and neck a little throughout each day (just doing soft, light touches is about all I can handle yet). I'm able to drink more fluids now than before, and have gotten really good with the smaller cups, so hopefully that will help my swelling to go down too. I haven't been able to go for any long walks like you're doing though. Not yet anyway. My ears are still plugged, and my sinuses feel 'full' or 'clogged' (not sure how to describe the feeling), and if I am on my feet for too long, I still get that dizzy, lightheaded feeling. So, I am not straying too far just yet. You are almost 5 weeks post-op now, so how do you feel at this point? Any pain/discomfort or swollen feeling for you at this point? (P.S. - I don't know if I ever mentioned to you how much I like the mouth cleaning supplies, did I? They really helped clean my mouth and made it feel so much better...thanks!)
