Shirley,

Thanks for the informative response to " the other Diane. " My name is also

Diane. I'm 41 and live in Oregon. I'll be having upper/lower w/bone graft

late-fall 2005. I believe I have the retrognathic mandible you were

describing. Is this basically a recessed lower jaw?

My jaw position changed in the last couple of years (long story). Since

then, I have developed a snoring habit and often feel very tired when I wake

up or toward mid-day. I suspect I may have sleep apnea. (My husband wears a

CPAP for severe sleep apnea).

I'm having my surgery in Seattle, Washington. I asked my OS' office if I

should have a sleep study before the surgery. Unfortunately, they want me to

use a sleep center in Washington who they work closely with. I was hoping to

have the study done here in Salem, Oregon.

Although I'm hopeful that advancing my lower jaw would take care of the

sleep apnea, I would like to have an evaluation in case there are other

procedures that need to be done as well. Around the third week of August, I

will be in Seattle on business. Your email has inspired me to try and make

an appointment while I'm there. (Hopefully insurance will pay some of the

visit.)

I hope you continue to heal quickly,

Diane, Oregon
