My son is starting to take SCDolphilus as per the PecanBread's SLOW approach via

mixing it in water first and only taking a tablespoon at a time. Does anyone

know if anything is lost by refrigerating the probiotic in water mixture for a

day or two? I think it will take him that long to get one capsule into his

system based on their guidelines. We were just wondering if the bacteria will

still be as potent when left in the refrigerated water solution.

Hmm,

interesting question. My instinctive reaction is not to mix all of the SCDophilus

capsule in water, just enough for the one dose and keep the rest of the

supplement’s worth of bacteria dry until needed. But I can’t

find anything online to suggest either way is best. Although the bacteria

shouldn’t die sitting in cold water, it seems to me that it might impair

their effectiveness. My bottles of L. Acidophilus always have dehydrator

packets included to keep moisture out of the bottle…

I

often empty out the contents of capsules into water; I just pour out what I

need for the one drink and put the capsule back together for later use.
