Guest guest
Hi Sherry, welcome to the group. It seems everyone varies on this and obviously the job you do will play a very large role in how quickly you can head back. I have a desk job and took 2 weeks off, mainly to learn how to eat more than anything. Good luck with everything! Lap RNY April 9, 2004 348/279/140 (begin/current/goal) www.carrieburns.net > Hello. My appointment with him was the end of last week and had my first appointment with the surgeon this afternoon. My psych. eval. is scheduled for Wednesday. Things are going so quickly. I am so excited, yet very nervous. I am going to end with a question. I was wanting to know how long some of you took off of work after surgery. Thanks, Sherry
Guest guest
Shirley, My job also requires heavy lifting . I lift patients. I was afraid of going back too early, and my doc gave me no restrictions after 6 weeks. Monday was my first day, and I had a light load, and was tired. Yesterday, I had more needy patients, two of which required two people, and I did fine. Today, I have another added. I hope my back holds out. If you are having lap, 6 weeks should do it, but if there is anyway you can get 8 weeks, go for it! Never can be too safe. I do not know how much time would be needed if I had had open. Guest guest
Shirley, Actually I work in Physical Therapy, but do much of the same job. Other than exhaustion thus far, I am doing okay. I have had bad gas pains for some reason, but that should go. I am sure I am not doing anything too strenuous yet. Best of luck with your recovery, and if there is anyway you can get the MD to recommend 8 weeks, the better, for peace of mind if nothing else. -- In Gastric_Bypass_Family , Shirley Weber <gmshirley@s...> wrote: > yes i know that you job can be very hard , that you have to life and roll the patients. my sister is a nurse and i also have a niece that's one , besides i have been as a visitor in hospitals and i see what you nurses do and it can be very hard . i hope that it does get easier on you and me too when i have to go back to work , i agree 8 weeks could do it > > > thanks > > > Shirley of Fontana so cal > > " Janet P.
