Guest guest
Thank you for your response Kim. I only have it on my right hand - and it got significantly worse since I've been on SCD and I'm not sure why that is. It seemed to get really bad while on my flare up which lasted just about 6 weeks. It is a little bit better this week, but not by much. I too use petroleum jelly as well as coconut oil, wear a cotton glove at night so I don't itch my skin right off. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'm learning to be patient with healing since being on SCD ~Ann > > Ann > > > > Not that I want to bring gloom to your day [grin] but my experience has been > that my eczema (arms) has improved considerably since being on SCD but my > dermatitis and contact dermatitis on my hands has not. Guest guest
Ann Do you find a connection with certain foods triggering an outbreak of eczema on your right hand? It took me a while to figure out some of my food triggers. Too much fruit of certain kinds, particularly berries, is one of my triggers. Like you, my right hand is more effected than my left hand, and right now the fingertips of my right hand are cracking and bleeding, one of my dermatitis symptoms; on thinking about what I've eaten this past week I realized I'd had a blueberry muffin every other day. Blueberries are in season here, and I'd picked a big batch, froze most but also made a batch of muffins. Guess eating blueberries every other day is too often for me [sigh]. They taste so good! Have you checked in with a dermatologist? Might be a fungal organism that has taken up residence. Healing does take time. My eczema didn't clear up until my gut ecology was nearly restored, although my dermatitis improved faster even though it recurrs frequently depending on what I'm doing or eating... Kim M.
