Hi ,

Welcome to the group and congrats on getting your surgery date. Sounds like

you went through a long process to get it. I'm 4'11 " and started at 309, my

goal is 150. Also I had a cath, didn't even know it til the next day....lol.

I had no problems with it. My surgery was on Friday morning at 7:30 and I

wasn't allowed out of bed til that Sunday morning. That's when they removed the

cath and got me up and walking and sitting in the chair. It was nothing for

them to remove it either, I had never had one before and it was nothing. Good

luck on your sleep study tests. I had already been diagnosed with sleep apnea

in 97 so I didn't have to go through another study. At 3-1/2 months out I no

longer need my CPAP either...yippeeeee. I wish you lots of luck .

Please keep us posted on how things are going and I will keep you in my

thoughts and prayers as your date approaches.

, Congrats and best of luck on your upcoming surgery. I will try to

be as much help as I can with your questions. I¹¹m working on a WLS workbook

and on getting the Q & A section of my website going, but obesityhelp.com can

also be a great source of info.

1. Here¹s a great site for checking your weight loss at different

monthly/yearly intervals. It¹s for the Mini-GB, but has been very accurate

for my loss, some will be higher some lower, everyone¹s different, but this

seems to help in some regard: http://clos.net/predict-wt-loss.htm

2. Everything was placed and removed while I was under and there were no

complications so I can¹t help you there. I was very nervous about all of

that as well, but to come out of surgery and have everything gone was a

welcome surprise.

Best of luck with the sleep study results and keep us all posted on your

surgery.

As far as a realistic goal, my team of doctors and my surgeon have all told me

that it is all up to me as to how much weight I lose. If I want to be 150 lbs,

then I can be, If I want to be 112, then I can be. As long as the weight you

want to achieve is a healthy weight for your stature, then it is all up to you

and in your hands. Just remember this is a tool, not a miracle cure. My

surgeon told me my healthy weight range (I am 5' 3 " ) is 112 - 125. I'm going

for 120, so we'll see. I figured something in the middle would be good. We'll

see when I get there though, how I feel and look.

I was very afraid of having a catheder, but it was not bad at all and they only

left it in for 24 hours. It just feels a little funny. I thought that it would

hurt when the took it out, but that wasn't bad either.

Good luck with everything and keep us up to date.

Hi ,

I ditto what said, I just had surgery on the 7th and I was

also leary and scared about having all those tubes in me. I didn't

have anything in me except for the drain and the IV when I woke back

up. Are you having your surgery open or Laproscopic? Mine was Lap

and I am back basically to being normal...which is surprising all my

family. By the way, I wanted to welcome you to this group of such

informative and helpful people who will help you with just about

anything.

Hugs, in AL.
