The commondenominator was that they had all stopped using

any tap water & used onlybottled water. We get lots of minerals

from real water.Thanks,

What about filtered tap water? Anybody heard bad about this?

I never understood BUYING water in little bottles. But then I have well

water. I bought a few bottles of water while I was traveling. Now I just

refill the bottles with water from home. I have discovered, though that I

HATE Dansani water. (bottled by Coca Cola). They add stuff, like sodium to

it to make it " taste better. " It doesn't. I just refill the bottles with my

unadulterated water from home, then freeze them to take on trips. :)

It really depends on where you live, Fay. Some places the tap water is

DISGUSTING. Not just tastes disgusting, but smells horrible. Best tap water

I

ever tasted was what we got in Brooklyn. Worst was what we got when we

lived very briefly in Sarasota, Florida.

We didn't move back to Brooklyn, but we did move back to NY (not for the

water tho! LOL!)

I *think* it has something to do with potential bacterial buildup after a

certain time? specially when there are no preservatives present (as would be

expected in " natural spring water. " ) Considering that water has alot of

thingies living in it. Anyone else have any ideas?

We have WONDERFUL tap water where I live now. It is clear, tastes

wonderful...doesn't smell like chlorine, but I have lived places where I

wouldn't drink the water that came out of the tap if it were the last drop

of moisture on earth! Some of us are just lucky that our water still tastes

good!

Well, personally, after three years of nothing but water and skim milk,

I got bored and just couldn't choke down regular water anymore. Also, I

live on Long Island where the breast cancer rate is 1 out of every 8

women will be diagnosed with it. Have four friends over the past five

years diagnosed with breast cancer, getting too close for comfort. So I

drink flavored bottled water. When I get sick of that, I'll go back to

regular bottled water. I tend to go in spurts with things.

Ewwwwwwwww. I visited my friend in San a million years ago. I had such

bad un-dx sleep apnea, so was up early (haha for anyone who knows me in real

life) and made coffee.

There were........ things..... that floated in it. The coffee tasted like

pond scum. Made a mental note not to buy THAT brand again. LOL! She came

out and said, oh neat, you DID use bottled water ,right? LOL! She tried to

gently tell me that the tap water was not even suitable for car washing!

I live in Florida. Talk about BAD tap water. If you turn the tap to hot,

you can SMELL the water as it comes out of the faucet. Um, NOT drinking

that stuff. :) We have one of those fridges with the water that comes out

that door and it filters the water. It's not perfect, but I'm used to it I

guess. If I go away for a week and then come home, the water tastes funny

again. I just tough it out for a day and get used to it again.

Fay,

You live down near my grandmother (aren't you only a few miles away from

her?) and I know that her tap water tastes like " Florida water " . Are you

just used to it or does yours somehow taste better than hers?

Here in Cleveland we have awesome tap water---of course, we have Lake Erie

as a water source, so we never have to worry about water. The only time

we've had a boil alert is if any of the old sewer lines were being replaced

or broke, and when we had the big blackout over the summer we were on a boil

alert for like 4 days.

Nope, it has to do with the plastic bottles breaking down over time,

especially if exposed to extremes of temperature and sunlight.

Drink up! :-)

I rarely drink water of any kind. Maybe a quart a month because one of

my medications requires it be taken with water. All my other liquid is

diet soda, about 2 liters a day.

================================================

Soda, diet or otherwise does not sit well with me. I find them all way

toooooo sweet and they make me gag. So I just plug along with water,

flavored water, skim milk and decaf tea on occassion. Will admit that a

cocktail or two has passed through these lips from time to time.

Strictly for socializing purposes only.

I found an interesting article on a webpage about soda vs water.

http://www.mcvitamins.com/water.htm

http://www.mcvitamins.com/soda.htm

I'd be concerned with the sodium amount if it has sodium in it. The link

below has the issues that can happen with excess sodium in our bodies. Kind

of suprised me.

http://www.naturalhealthnotebook.com/Minerals/Sodium.htm

Nitrates and phosphates in the soda can inhibit the absorbtion of nutrients.

I just think we have enough of that going on without taking in more stuff to

malabsorb the nutrients.

This post was not written to change your mind, Ray, but I wanted to get this

out there on what is known about soda since there is so much controversy on

it so others can question and go research for themselves.

While diet pop may sustain one's living as a valid fluid, I'm not sure the

other negative stuff warrants it to be used over water as a main staple as

counseled is all.
