Guest guest
I all ready take thyroid med right now it's a pretty high dose, does anyone know whether once u get your weight down if it can reverse your thyroid problems? I have my consulation in 3 weeks, I just pray I qualify since I'm on a lot of meds for other health problems. My pcd told me I could take liquid meds for b/p and that they have pain patches I could be put on for the fibro. I also have diabetes type 2. some mild heart problems but my cardiologist ok'd me to have the surgery, he said with my health problems the insurance ought to pay me to have the surgery for it would be less they would have to pay out in the long run. I'm concerned about the walking and excersing we will have to do after surgery since the fibro gives me fits just to walk around the grocery store and mall shopping is out these days but I'm determined to do it regardless of the pain just to get this weight off and feel like a real woman again. I don't get to be on much so can't read all of the emails for I can't sit for long periods at the puter and my mail has been runing in the thousands but I do skim the things I see that I should know before going thru with this. Re: Thyroid Medications and Dora: I went to the dr. for my thyroid on friday and he put me back on synthroid, the lowest dosage. he said it should be absorbed in my system, but i need to get my blood work re-done in 2 months to check it out. i know someone else had said already that they had no problems absorbing thyroid medication so it should be fine. my levels were the highest they have ever been this time, but hopefully the medicine will do the trick and i won't feel as fatigued either. julia in delaware lap rny 3/10/04 261/169/

Guest guest
as far as i know, once you have thyroid disease you always have it. they thought they had misdiagnosed mine, that was why the endocrinologist had taken me off my meds. you may be able to decrease your dosage, but i don't think it ever goes away that i am aware of. julia in delaware lap rny 3/10/04 261/169/
Guest guest
I hate to hear that. My doctor just put me on medicine last month for hypothyroidism and I was hoping that once the weight came off I would be able to come off that medication. I hate taking medication. Oh well, it could be worse. Dora in Tennessee Lap/Open RNY 9/20/2004 Vanderbilt Hospital
Guest guest
No that is incorrect... My sister had it also, had surgery, and now she is fine, and skinny as a rail... amy jca523@... wrote:as far as i know, once you have thyroid disease you always have it. they thought they had misdiagnosed mine, that was why the endocrinologist had taken me off my meds. you may be able to decrease your dosage, but i don't think it ever goes away that i am aware of. julia in delaware lap rny 3/10/04 261/169/
Guest guest
When I was in my twenties I was diagnosed with hypothryoidism, Synthroid and I did not get along so I took myself off it. My blood work has been good since my thirties. I asked my doctor and he said my body " recovered " from various stress that I have in my early twenties. Hope you too can come off medication.
