Kathy,

I would stay away from iron that is combined with calcium. Calcium

interferes with iron absorption. Kim O

Kathy,

Iron and calcium directly compete for the same receptor structures in

the small intestine, and calcium " wins " meaning you cannot count that

iron. I would never ingest the two as supplements within two hours of

each other.

About Iron

I have seen iron supplements combined with calcium, magnesium, and etc.

Does this mean the combination helps iron be absorbed?

As always, thanks,

kathy

Ok, well, I've decided my constant tiredness is probably not just because of

my awful schedule, and I did test a bit low when I tried to give blood. So,

having paid NO attention when the various kinds of iron were discussed, I

have to ask --

fumerate ok or not ok?

If not fumie, what is ok?

Yes, yes, I know I work for Vitalady and she will have that answer, but when

Lyn,

Ferrous fumerate and carbonyl iron are both great, as is ferrous gluconate.

Ferrous sulfate is the evil one.

Well, I don't work for Vitalady (the commute would be a KILLER from Florida

to WA State :) but when I've been out there I've seen firsthand how

difficult it is for anyone to actually pin her down in person.
