Guest guest
> The same old headache, edginess, puffy face. I would feel no different had I gone on a bender. So I detox, drink tons and tons of water, lots of protein, no carbs. Within a day, > I look and feel so much better. After two days, I'm back > to my old self, happy, energetic, etc. , thanks for sharing all of this. It is amazing. I am really enjoying the upbeat, happy, energetic days that I am having as a south-beacher. Makes me wonder, like you, why I ever ate those carbie demons in the first place. Funny thing is I am a teensy bit sluggish today and I wonder if it is related to the fact that I had one of those Atkins Endulge " ice creams " things last night. Very low carbs but it seems to almost create a mock sugar response in me. Weird. hugs, Ann
Guest guest
Another interesting thread. I hadn't put carbs and depressing moods together. What are you guys considering carbs in this sense? I get confused over starchy carbs, sugary carbs, veggie carbs...what's good, what's not good, how much of what to have. Someone needs to create a little credit-card sized " nutrition for WLS patients " thing that I can keep with me at all times to help keep me on track. How do other people stay on track? -

Can't do any of them, really. Rice either. I love cornbread, popcorn, etc., but have to really limit them. It's basically the high glycemic foods that set me off. Since I have been doing this South Beach thing I have felt soooooooo much better - energetic, happy, upbeat - that I can't believe it. It's wonderful! hugs, Ann

Guest guest
I definitely understand the fear, but is that really the best way to live your life? Isn't peace and love a better place to be? How do we get away from the fear, find that peace and love, and get to a point of balance in our interactions with food? - > How do we keep on track? > > In my case: fear > > so simple. so effective > > > Thanks, > > > Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
Put it into perspective. I'm not quivering in my boots 24/7. I just know who my enemies are. I also do not go outside barefoot on summer evenings. But I do during the day. The slugs are waiting for me out there. Fear? Wisdom? Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
: I just know whomy enemies are. //////// Very well said. I'm struggling so darn hard to kick the choco habit. It is MY enemy and it has a strangling hold. When (not " if " because I'm over 48 hrs sober) I kick this it's fear that will keep me in place. p.s. thanks to those who referred to carbs/sugar as " drugs " because to me it's like that and it's helped me to keep away from them several times.
