Guest guest
Actually...same question with yogurt/dripped yogurt? Stacey > > I'm so fed up with all the weight I've been gaining that I decided to start counting calories. I hate that I'm doing it but hopefully it will help me start losing weight and then once I'm doing my exercise stuff more regularly I can stop worry about it. So I tried using fitday before and it worked....eh...semi-okay. I like that it allows you to enter foods but it doesn't really seem to have a way to create a recipe so I'd have to do all the data analysis elsewhere and then enter the data. However, today I found this site: > http://www.nutritiondata.com > > While I do have to enter several ingredients individually (they don't have things like almond or coconut flour) I like that it allows me to create a full recipe in that program and divide it into servings. hehehe...good since I tend to do different serving sizes depending on my hunger level. I have, however, hit a snag. How do we go about finding the nutritional data for nut milk? I mean, it can't just be the combo of almonds and water since often a lot of the almonds are strained out. Anyone have any ideas about how I might go about doing it? I plan on creating the menus in this program and then transferring it over to fitday. >
Guest guest
Cool Stacey. I looked at fitday once or twice and figured out that nothing I ate had any relationship to the stuff there - because I always cook my own stuff and lots of time I change recipes around from one time to another, and that was it. Too frustrating. Good for you for persevering. Mara > I'm so fed up with all the weight I've been gaining that I decided to start counting calories. Guest guest
Actually...same question with yogurt/dripped yogurt? My guess would be that the yogurt would be the same as the milk you made it from, since all that's happening is the bacteria are breaking the lactose into galactose (I think? I guess they must eat some of it too, but I'm not sure how that would affect the overall content in the yogurt) For dripped yogurt, I'd say the same fat & protein as regular yogurt, but much fewer carbs. Maybe only 1/3 of the carbs or something? Just guessing here, but that would be what I would use. Guest guest
Stacey, You could look at the nutritional data on a can of nut milk at the store and go with that. I know it wouldn't be exact, but it would be close. Someone here had posted that suggestion a while back when we were talking about fitday. If you purchase the fitday program it's supposed to be much more customizable than the free online version, but I've never used it. Guest guest
I saw my Natropath a few weeks ago after not seeing her for quite some time. She was telling me that she thinks a lot of health food oriented people that eat a lot of nuts have this issue with extra poundage. She personally is pretty much sugar and grain free. She is very supportive of the diet and has put other IBS/IBD patients on it. We are very nut heavy on this diet- I wonder if this contributes at all or is part of the issue to the weight gain thread? Guest guest
I eat very little nuts and can't stop gaining. <shrug> Misty > We are very nut heavy on this diet- I wonder if this contributes at all or is part of the issue to the weight gain thread? > > Jodi >
Guest guest
Same here on the nuts; I don't use them often. I did eat some macadamia nuts late one night recently. I also just stopped taking prescription iron pills which has really done a number on me. Maybe I can get things straight if I get over this one. Guest guest
Yeah, I have given up nuts in hopes of losing, and stuck to strict atkins SCD for weeks, didn't lose a thing! I read somewhere that since the body stores toxins in fat, storing fat is the body's way of protecting us from toxins. Wish I wasn't so toxic! > > > We are very nut heavy on this diet- I wonder if this contributes at all or is part of the issue to the weight gain thread? > > > > Jodi > > >

The point is -- we don't NEED to be nut-heavy on SCD. It's just that we keep wanting bread and cookies and etc. etc. etc. which, pre-SCD were made from grains. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
