Hi Everyone,

I have only been on the SCD for 2 weeks, but have been seeing a Chinese Medicine

doctor for acupuncture and chinese herbs for my UC. I had great results

initially - I actually couldn't believe how well it was working. However my

symptoms are coming back with a vengeance, and adding a few new ones now. I was

wondering if anyone else had tried acupuncture and if so, did you have any

success?

PS - I joined this website about a week ago and just want to say thank you to

those who work so hard to make it happen. What a relief it is to know you are

not alone.

Thank you,

Tobi

I have heard some Chinese herbs contain illegals. You may want to stop them and

see how that works. Acupuncture had generally been helpful.

Thanks everyone. I had considered the herbs may be the problem, yet that doctor started me on this diet so I thought he would have thought of that. Better check again.

I was wondering if anyone else had tried acupuncture and if so, did you have any success?Acupuncture was a tremendous help to me prior to my cancer surgery (for uterine cancer) and for pain relief afterwards. It was also wonderful to getting things back in balance after I had my colonoscopy.I would recommend being careful of Chinese herbs because some of them are quite high in polysaccharides, and are thus SCD-illegal, so you could be at cross-purposes with them and SCD.

I was wondering if anyone else had tried acupuncture and if so, did you have any success?Weird, that's exactly what happened to me. However, that was when I did the acupuncture AND herbs (with SCD illegals). When I just did acupuncture I don't think my symptoms changed much, but I felt a lot better in general and slept great. Acupuncture alligns the body's energy, it could help in the body's

wellness processing.

Dr. Webb, Preventative & Homeopathy

Suggested to me: Nux Vomica 30c 4pellets 2x a day for 10days

then work a bit with Lycopoduum 30c same treatment as NuxVo

These are are for the digestive system. I have just begun

so I cannot share any results as yet.

I have IBS, and although I haven't gone for acupuncture in recent months,

I used to go regularly. It definitely helped me feel better in

general and calm the gut down for awhile each time. We did try me

on the Chinese Herbs but I didn't get along with them at all. I suspect

now it's that they probably have a lot of illegals in them. But the

acupuncture I hope to get back to soon.

My daughter used acupuncture frequently at the beginning after being dx'ed w.

Crohn's. She now goes only when she feels a flare coming on, or if we want to

make sure her body is in good balance (like before going away to summer camp,

where she would not be able to SCD 100%).

I agree that the herbs could be the problem here.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon,

Hi Terri,

I would stop taking the Nux vomica and Lycopodium.

It looks like they can be hard on your gut. See below:

used for muscle strains, and rheumatological conditions such as arthritis.6

I have been using acupuncture for my UC for the last two months. It has helped enormously. I do not use any herbs, but the main reason I went in the first place was for fertility, but she is treating my UC and digestion and all of it is helping wonderfully. I personally would recommend just the needles but I don't think a lot of the traditional medicine is good for IBD people. You would be better off doing the needles and use coconut oil/GSE/garlic/apple cider vinegar/SCD and even LDN instead of herbs. My acupuncturist hasn't ever even mentioned herbs for the most part and is not as into that as she is into diet, sleep, and exercise/lifestyle. She is into Weston Price and even knew about SCD, so I am lucky to have her. Maybe cut out the herbs and see what happens? Personally my UC is the best in a long time, and actually the last two years at this time

I was deathly ill. I do think seasons are troublesome, and allergies. But I didn't know about coconut oil, LDN, garlic, apple cider vinegar, GSE etc. last year even though I was on SCD. Now I do and hope to keep balanced with my current regime and acupuncture too. Good luck.CathleenUC since age 15SCD, LDN, acupuncture, garlic, GSE, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar/H2O2/Budwig. I began seeing a Chinese Dr/Accupuncturist with weekly visits since May 29th,

2010. I'm off all of my meds now - Entocort, Imuran, and Asacol. I was having

flares on those meds and gastro was going to put me on something stronger -

injectible. I've had a few flares since coming off the Asacol but I got through

them without going to the hospital. While the accupuncture helps the practioner

says it's the herbs that are doing most of the healing. I am now cutting back to

bi-weekly visits and feel like I'm moving in the right direction.

Well, thank you for this, very interesting.

I know much of homeopathy comes from strange sources, some even from snake venom,, but it is diluted many times.

Like cures like.

I appreciate this site.

They are Chinese herbs. I have no idea what is in them. They

come in a ground powder that I mix with water and drink. She knows I am on SCD

and worked through my fears. I trust her enough now that I switched to her recommended

vitamin (it contains iron which I was afraid of). I am tolerating them better

than the Freeda brand. It is so difficult finding the right doctor. I had previously

been to another acupuncturist, holistic practitioner, and MD/homeopath that did

nothing for me other than cost a lot of money and put me on lots of supplements

and vitamins. At one point I was up to 18 per day! All this occurred prior to

my being diagnosed with Crohn’s. Since my diagnosis last year I have seen a

gastro, GP, and two dietitians (that had no idea what they were doing). My regimen

now is SCD, herbs 3 x day, Pure multi with iron 2 @ lunch, 1 @ dinner, Nordic

Naturals liquid fish oil 1 x day, and liquid D 1 x day.
