Guest guest
Hi Lynn. I don't post much or answer questions but I believe I can answer some of your questions because I have had diverticulitis myself. In Dec. 2008, I found myself in the ER with an abscess in my colon. I was a very, sick girl. After about a month on Cipro and Flagyl, I still had some pain down on the lower left side. This pain did not go away for several months! I can also attest to the " scrubbing feeling " that you feel. There were many times that I could actually " feel " the food as it moved through my colon. It was very scary. In the beginning, I took things VERY slow. Just recently, I looked back over my " food diary " that I kept, and WOW, I was on a very limited diet. BUT, it was very needful. I began to heal and get better each day. As of today, I've been on the SCD for 19 months! Also, in the beginning, I lost 25 lbs. which I did not have any extra to lose but I did anyway. I have gained back 10 lbs. of that and very glad of it. I still am very careful of what I eat but I have been able to add many (legal) things back in my diet. I'm so very thankful for the SCD as I believe it possibly saved me from surgery.
