Guest guest
Hi Fay and Caboose! The bands really aren't too bad. At least you get to take them to clean your teeth. I just came back from my OS appointment and no more bands for me. I was wearing two loose bands to pull everything together because my teeth did not know where to go. It felt very weird right after the surgery so I actually requested the bands while I was still in the hospital. Now I'm free to stretch and open as wide as possible to get my muscles to loosen up. After having a very limited opening for years, that is going to be the hardest part of recovery for me. My swelling is almost nonexistant on the right side now. I was a little worried and thought I might be developing an infection on the left. It was swollen and I felt like I was coming down with the flu, aching, hot and sweaty. My husband was loving it because I kept turning down the AC which we're always arguing about normally. There was even a tiny bit of pus draining from the incision on the left so I freaking out last night. At my appointment this morning, my surgeon took the stitches out of that incision and flushed out the joint on that side after he numbed everything up (not fun at all!). The joint was clear so it was just a little superficial skin infection around the sutures. Whew! He did switch me over to a stronger antibiotic just in case. The incision is still open but as long as it is draining clear fluid, it's good. I'm now massaging that side as much as possible to get the swelling down. On the bright side, I now have the best bite I've ever had in my life! With a lot of orthodontic work, maybe some crowns and/or filing down of some teeth, it should be close to perfect. I love looking in the mirror and seeing my teeth come together for the first time in my life. Happy healing to both of you, too! minirascal > > > > Well here I am at the library again using their computer to > check > > > in on > > > > my buddies.
