Guest guest
Tigger, I listen to books on tape all the time, but NOT in the car. LOL. Too distracting and I need to keep my mind on the road. Music is better for me when driving. I like to read but I need to keep working and active so books on tape are wonderful when using the tread mill, doing handy work or cleaning the house. I also use them when I can't sleep at night or when I am working on the computer, like right now. I really do listen to them and remember what I hear. Try the books when you are doing other things and see how you like them. Janet

I wear a Walkman and listen to books while I do my housework; I listen while I do my exercising; and then, I pop the tape in the player in the car and listen while I'm driving. I've gone through TONS of books and I find that I get a lot more housework done, too! Guest guest
DH uses audio books in the car on long drives, I use them in the gym for cardio portion of my routine. Helps with the boredom of riding a bike to nowhere or climbing stairs that never end! I enjoy them- can't seem to keep the coordination needed to read and climb and the added benefit is that I don't listen to them at any other time so when it's a really good book I look forward (who said that?!) to going to the gym. BTW, I buy mine at a factory outlet center bookstore so I get them just a couple of bucks each and when I'm done I pass them on to my mother who has trouble with her eyesight and can't read more than a few pages at a time. Guest guest
I love books on tape. My only problem is when I get to my destination I hate to get out the car cause I want to hear the rest of the book. I love mysteries, thrillers, and spy novels. It is a great way for me to handle long communtes. Lorraine > Good morning. Guest guest
Tigger and anyone else, You can rent audio tapes from the Cracker Barrel restaurants that are found usually along the freeways. Just drop them off at the next one along the way and pick up another one. Another good source of used tapes is Half Price Books......I have enjoyed listening to them. I drove myself a few years ago from Houston to Callaway Gardens in Georgia for a Needlework seminar listening to The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood and had a good laugh.
