Guest guest
Thanks Diane. The Hydrocodone is good stuff, but I don't like feeling groggy (not to mention constipation, another side effect) but I woke up feeling pretty good this morning and began taking Aleve. Am still taking the antibiotic of course. I'm chewing soft foods now at the back of my mouth (the only part of my mouth that I've ever been able to chew with anyway) and am doing my best to keep the extraction sites clean (gently brushing, warm salt water rinse). Food does always find its way there doesn't it? I think it's interesting you got your extractions before the braces. My ortho and OS kinda went back and forth before they decided to do the extractions and as of now, the braces have been on for six months. Can't tell if any brackets/wires were bent or broken during the extractions. I'm scheduled to have the braces on for 20 months. They won't know until 3-4 months before the surgery as far as exactly when it'll be because there's a lot of work that has to be done (esp. moving these teeth to fill in the holes left by the extractions). I'm shooting for about this time next year. Maybe our surgeries will be around the same time Hope to hear again from you soon, ~Joanne > Joanne, Congratulations on surviving your extractions!! Guest guest
Joanne - Nice to hear from you. Sounds like you're healing nicely. Incidentally, the extraction I had last month was for an abscessed tooth; my dentist referred me to the OS to remove it. It was only after meeting the Surgeon at the extraction consultation, that I felt I wanted to get a Orthognathic Surgery work-up by him. I feel so comfortable and at ease with him - he's easy to talk to and I feel he's the best Surgeon I could ever have. Before my extraction, I told him I had decided to have Orthognathic Surgery and wanted him to do it, and he was thrilled. He referred me to the OD for my Ortho work- up, which I had last Tuesday (yuck, those molds!). At my Ortho consult, we discussed the need for more extractions and he said no more would be needed. I asked about the hole left by the extraction, and he said he probably wouldn't need it and I'd need an implant at that site after my jaw surgery. The next meeting with my OD isn't for two weeks; he'll be telling me his treatment plan for me and I'm bringing questions for him. Unfortunately, I have to wait for my Orthognathic Surgery consult and work-up, for 6 weeks from now. I hate waiting - I just want to get on with this!! / Diane > > Joanne, Congratulations on surviving your extractions!!
