Wow, that is brilliant, my buddy is back! I certainly jumped the gun thinking

you were cancelling didn't I!

Now I will have someone to whinge to about this when we get it done. You can

tell me what to expect.

If only we knew that things would work out to save worry time! Congratulations.

Can you believe it? After all my stress and worry? They were happy to

loan me the money, at a reasonable interest rate -- in fact, she was

trying to get me to borrow the full $6,300 from them instead of just

the partial $4,000 (since my credit union is loaning me $2,500). Of

course, the paperwork won't be final for a few days, but she didn't

seem to think there would be any problem.

I guess I had just assumed that since my credit union, which I've had

a good relationship with for 8 years, wouldn't loan me enough, that

nobody else would, either.

I knew my credit wasn't great -- but she pulled my credit report right

there, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. My score is in the

middle range, which she said was average.

Maybe this is all just practice for buying a home in a few years? I do

need to clean up a few things on my credit report, and doing so now

will help me get the best interest rate possible on a future mortgage.

Anyway, I'm so, so relieved. Thank you for bearing with me; I'm sorry

I made such a fuss.

Oh, Luna, I'm so relieved that you were able to find a bank to loan

you the money. I was so concerned - you have been in my thoughts.

Even though I've never met you, I feel you are one of my friends and

am concerned for your wellbeing. (I guess that may sound corny, but

that's how I feel.) So, it's off to surgery on schedule for you -

what tremendous relief and joy you must be feeling! ~~ your Idaho

friend, Diane

Everyone: Thank you for sharing in my joy; I am so touched by all your

comments. Wow, you guys really care! :-)

Now I'm back to the excitement of planning for surgery and Seattle.

Got lots to get ready. I had been so hopeless over the past week that

I hardly got anything done around the house. I was so happy this

afternoon that I went out and pulled a bunch of weeds. I can actually

see my flowers now!

Thanks again, everyone, I really appreciate your support.

Luna,

I just wanted to chime in with the rest of the gang and give you my

congratulations. I've been thinking about you and praying for you.

I guess it's true ... you shouldn't worry until there is something to

worry about. And it would seem ... you have NOTHING to worry about!!!

Full speed ahead!

All the best,

Carol

Actually I am STILL worrying -- even though I probably have no reason to.

Here's another interesting part of the story that I didn't share

yesterday: The loan officer was this really nice woman. She asked me

what I was studying in grad school -- creative writing -- and then

asked what kind of writing I wanted to do -- freelancing for magazines

-- and then told me her sister is a staff writer for Better Homes &

Gardens. So while I was sitting there, she emailed her sister and

asked how I might do some writing for the magazine.

Today she called and left me a message -- my stomach sank -- I thought

she was going to say, " Sorry, can't do the loan after all " -- but she

said she needed to know what topics I'm interested in writing about

and her sister will give me the appropriate editor's contact info.

I am reluctant to get my hopes up. But this could be REALLY cool. :-)

Hi Luna,

I am so glad it worked out for you. Hey, when you get to Seattle,

give a post! I live just outside of Tacoma, which is really close.

We spend a lot of time at Bel Harbor Marina downtown Seattle during

the summer. It is a popular guest moorage point right near Pikes

Place Market. Congratulations again!

Hugs,

Fran

Hi Fran, will do. I think my hotel will have Internet access. I'm

staying very close to Pike Place Market. My pre-surgery schedule is

very busy with my cousin who lives in Olympia and my friend flying out

the day before the surgery. But maybe after surgery we could hang out,

if I'm feeling up to it and you're available. L
