Patience really can be the best thing Fran, at least for peace of mind.

That wasn't my method though :). I would basically give people

(doctors, nurses, etc.) 3 days and would call back to check the status.

I would also email everyone I had an email address for (mainly my GP)

so that it was right there in his face that I needed a letter now, not

when he got around to it. He thanks me now for my perseverance, even if

he didn't appreciate it too much then :).

You can always go to your doctor's office. After my initial visit

with my surgeon, he told me there was no letter from my pcp,

needless to say my next stop was the pcp office. Remember you pay

their salary and if they are too busy to follow up with a simple

letter you do have the right to remind them. From what I've seen it

is almost a form letter, pcp recommends the procedure, you are

morbidly obese, and have other life threatning illnesses, no big

deal for the doctor to write.
