Guest guest
Swelling kinda goes in halves, one day you are half as swollen as the day before...etc full swelling I am told is 6-1 yr to fully go away. and for the numbness to slowly subside (on average) -I am 3 years post op and almost 95% NORMAL feelings from my bsso. what about normal foods? like 4 or 5 weeks of soft foods is what they usually say, correct? curious to know what the general consensus is and what people's experiences have been. =usually no chew until 6 weeks but you can have blended foods before and after...Normal foods is quite a while after. Guest guest
I'm 5 weeks post op and still very swollen. Granted, I had upper and lower jaw surgery ... but a couple of years ago I had only upper ... and was swollen for quite some time. Being wired shut, I'm also on a liquid diet for 2 months. My advice would be speak with your surgeon. Although your positive attitude will probably get you far - I wouldn't want you to be unprepared for the reality of life after orthognathic surgery. Forgive me negative tone ... I'm having one of those days ... where honesty has overridden my postivity. Take care, Carol > i will be having only lower jaw surgery using rigid fixation on july > 13th. my surgery will be relatively minor from what i understand. i > will be taking one week off of work. i believe the first week or so i > am wired shut. my question is, how long will it take for the swelling > to go down (on average) and for the numbness to slowly subside (on > average)...im assuming swelling goes down by the end of week 2 and > numbness in 2 or 3 months? what about normal foods? like 4 or 5 weeks > of soft foods is what they usually say, correct? curious to know what > the general consensus is and what people's experiences have been. > > thanks
