Swelling kinda goes in halves, one day you are half as swollen as the

day before...etc full swelling I am told is 6-1 yr to fully go away.

and for the numbness to slowly subside (on

average)

-I am 3 years post op and almost 95% NORMAL feelings from my bsso.

what about normal foods? like 4 or 5 weeks

of soft foods is what they usually say, correct? curious to know what

the general consensus is and what people's experiences have been.

=usually no chew until 6 weeks but you can have blended foods before

and after...Normal foods is quite a while after.

I'm 5 weeks post op and still very swollen. Granted, I had upper and

lower jaw surgery ... but a couple of years ago I had only upper ...

and was swollen for quite some time. Being wired shut, I'm also on a

liquid diet for 2 months. My advice would be speak with your

surgeon. Although your positive attitude will probably get you far -

I wouldn't want you to be unprepared for the reality of life after

orthognathic surgery. Forgive me negative tone ... I'm having one of

those days ... where honesty has overridden my postivity. :)

Take care,

Carol
