Could be you are working through some detoxification and that is how it is manifesting - through the skin - and the toxins released are causing that reactionas they die off. Maybe try an epsom bath to help detoxify the skin - might helpwith the itchiness. They say it is the waste products of some of the bacteria/mold/fungus/yeast that we react to allergically. I guess that would count as wellfor them dying off. MaraHave any of you experienced itching of the hands and or feet at the start of the diet? I was running different types of apples through the juicer to see which I liked when my palms starting itching.. I added it up that I may be allergic to one of the apples.. I have not touched them since... It would go away 12 hours or so.. and then return.. No spots.. No red.. no swelling.. Called the pharmacy and asked if any of my meds would cause this... Been on them too long and with no redness.. She said no....... About 4 days later it switched to my heals... Again no redness no bumps.. Just itching.. It has tappered off for a while.... just felt it back on my heals last night..The only thing my pharmacist questioned was if I was diebetic.. (I am not).. So I wondered if it was something internal happening with the diet? She asked if it was external or internal itch and it is internal... She said nerves....

Yes! I get it every so often. In fact it's funny that you should ask this

question now because I hadn't felt it for a while but started feeling it again

today in my right palm. Unfortunately I couldn't tell you what it is because I

haven't figure out what I might be reacting to. Occasionally I think it might

be an allergy to something I touch but that wouldn't really make sense if I'm

also feeling it on my feet. Or an allergy to some kind of mold (I have general

allergy reactions after it rains and thought maybe this was part of it) or even

something I eat (just ate eggplant after not having it for quite a while).

::sigh:: I don't know what it is but it's ridiculously annoying since the palms

and soles are so much thicker than the other skin so it's much harder to scratch

the itch. I feel for you! I hope it goes away! And if you do find out what's

causing your itching, please please please share! :)

I get this from time to time. Just recently I came home after a week's

vacation to find mould in my tea cup (I had left it half full). The entire day,

I was really itchy and uncomfortable, but more my head than hands and feet.

Sometimes, I get itchy when I eat too may sweets and get a yeast flare up

as a result. My sister gets this reaction from mushrooms. There may well

have been something on those apples that you reacted to. Were they organic?

Itching can also be a sign of liver issues.

Pre-SCD, the bottoms of my feet itched everyday for about a year. Talk about

annoying, especially when you're trying to sleep. There was no rash or anything,

they looked completely normal. When I researched it, I only came up with

something about liver problems. I also found a whole bunch of people on many

forums looking for answers as well.

I did get the apples at a fresh market.. but i am pretty sure they were not organic...

I got blood work done this past week and I am sure they would have called me if something was up with my liver.. The last time I did blood work they called the following day to say my potassium was too low.. I was taking it that no news was good news..I have a follow up appointment on the 10th so we can discuss everything then...

I agree with it just being a form of clean out with the new way of eating...

I've had times off and on, and long before the diet, where I did fine

with various foods as long as I peeled them. I've always assumed this

meant there was some pesticide or spray on them that didn't agree with

me. I think you are right, they'd probably have called you if they were

worried about your liver.

We do go through a lot of adjustments on the diet. Sometimes it's a bit

hard to keep up! But then things settle out for awhile, at least.

hehe...I can't say whether or not it's in your head :P but I know that it wasn't

in mine. And, yes, it's horribly frustrating when it starts itching when you're

trying to sleep! Mine was really bad for a little bit and then went away and it

feels like I experience it a few times a year but it's less intense than the

first time I had a problem with it.
