I just did this yesterday, with 10 lbs of tomatoes. It did take a long time! I cut the tomatoes in quarters, and then halved those quarters (cross-wise) and just used a (not-too-big) knife to scrape the seeds out. After the first couple it started going pretty fast. It is a mess though. You can also try just halving the tomatoes (cross-wise) and squeezing the seeds out. That would be faster but I'm not sure you'd get all the seeds. And you'd probably lose some of the tomato flesh you want to keep, since they are warm after peeling, even if you put them in an ice-bath right after boiling.

The whole peeling & seeding process took me about 1.5 hours, for 10 lbs.

Anyone have an easy method for de-seeding tomatoes? I'm getting a bunch of home grown tomatoes from a friend and my son is finally able to tolerate home made sauce, as long as the seeds have been removed. It seems to take me forever to de-seeded the tomatoes and my kitchen looks like a murder scene by the time I'm finished. Any tools or tips for removing the seeds?

Including videos on Youtube.  Presumably at least some of it works!n ______________________________A funny, touching gift book for cat lovers. You might consider a juicer, like the Omega 8002 series. (May be 8005 by

now.)

I have noticed, with my Maverick griner, that it holds back most of the

skins and seeds from cranberries, and plan to try it with some tomatoes.

With the fine plate on it, it becomes a sort of automated food mill,

which is much easier on my arms and wrists.
